I know there are a couple of Ohio fans who are also big history buffs, so I thought they (and all curious Bobcat fans) might enjoy reading this.

Austin Peay was the governor of Tennessee from 1923-1927 (that's where the mascot comes from), the state's first post-Civil War governor to win three consecutive terms, and also the 1st to die in office. He is most known for signing the Butler Act in 1925, which banned the teaching of evolution in public schools, and also for lending support to establish the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Thanks for the history lesson, Brufus. Here, I thought the school was founded by people from Austin, Texas, who returned to Tennessee after the Battle of the Alamo and who had bladder problems. Another historical myth put to rest by honest historical research. Good job!
