Last Saturday's victory over Marshall reminded me a lot of the Ohio-Temple series where Temple would walk into these games believing they should win with superior talent and end up outsmarted and taking loss. The only difference is while Temple's strength was the running game for Marshall the strength is passing. Cato is a quality QB but I don't think playing a cerebral Ohio team is a good matchup for Marshall. I don't see things changing too much in the recent revival of the series with the way Solich coaches and the way Marshall recruits. Marshall is going to do well in CUSA for a while since all the competition has left but once some of those new schools find their footing they'll go back to struggling in conference play.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

If cerebral = tough then I am with you 100%.

That was a very fine W put up by the OHIO FOOTBALL on Saturday.

Hardly any of we OHIO even predicted a victory. If we'd've lost by 15-18, I think that most of us would not have been surprised.

Very, very good win.

Cato is probably the 2nd or 3rd best QB we'll see this season (if Johnson at BGSUcks improves like I think he will, he could be really, really good by the end of Nov; he had a decent game vs Indiana Saturday).  Terd and ECU are probably the top two in their division, and the CUSA West seems to be wide open with Tulsa foundering -- Tulane leads it, for crying out loud.  Wes, you're right.  Terd will have about three or four years of dominating CUSA before the rest of the guys catch up.  They should enjoy these days instead of complaining about losing to "the likes of Ohio" -- a program that has gone to four straight bowls and won two of them.

And I don't feel the least bit guilty beating a superior bunch of players. Honestly I wish we would have had our 7 starters who were out, but it turned out okay anyway.

This week, Pat Forde rates the conferences and has CUSA 9th of the 10 1A conferences (the MAC is 8th).  His comments reinforce some of what has been said here:

9. Conference USA (19). Was raided in realignment and it shows. Nobody has shown signs of being the league’s new lead dog.

Skins on the wall: None.
Elite teams: None.
Second tier: None.
Best of the rest: East Carolina, Rice, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Marshall, Tulsa.
Bottom of the barrel: Tulane, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, UTSA, UAB, Florida International, Southern Mississippi.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.
