For those attending away games: are tickets being mailed to you or are you being told to pick them up at opponents' Will-Call?

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE TICKET OFFICE IF THEY SAY THAT TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT OPPONENTS' WILL CALL!!!!! I did last year for the Miami game and it was nearly a DISASTER! The person at the ticket office, [redacted], told me that I could pick up my tickets at the will call window in oxford. When I got to that window, I was informed that they had no such tickets for me, but that since I'd purchased my tickets through the OHIO office I should try the Ohio will-call window. So I walk over there (it was a small shed just outside of the stadium. The two ticket office people in there tell me that no, in fact, my tickets should have been mailed to me, that they're just there to pass out player-family tickets. Seeing my obvious concern, they engage me a bit further. I tell them that [redacted] told me that I could pick up my tickets from Willcall/OHIO Willcall. They then look at each other and say "Ohhh, [redacted]...[redacted] is kind of an idiot...how many tickets do you need". They then proceeded to give me the 12 tickets I needed, saving my bacon.

So in the end it worked out, but DO NOT RELY on the ticket office actually having any tickets for you at will call.

Oh yeah: what happened to the tickets they were supposed to set for me at will call? They arrived in my mailbox 2 days AFTER the game.

I had no issues at the Fiami game getting my tickets. Historically never have - though there have been Many games (FBall and BBall) where they show up in the mailbox a day or two before the game - never understand why they wait until the last minute to get them out.

Thanks for the info mf279801.  I just ordered tickets to Akron, EMU and BG and was told that I wouldf need to pick my tickets up at their will call window.  Don't like that and a little worried.

There will be a crowd of about 12 people at Akron, so purchasing at the window will not be a concern.

This is the case for most MAC away games. Most of the time, you can buy a ticket on game day and then set anywhere you want. I think about the only place I've found this to not be true is Toledo. Also, of note, I've twice been given tickets by someone who had ones he couldn't use, once at Toledo and once at Bowling Green.

I ordered my Akron tickets last week and was told they would be mailed this week.  last year my Miami tickets arrived in time.  I've ordered Kent tickets and only once had to pick them up at the stadium (they were there), but I ordered late that year.

80 percent of the time at away games, if you stand around long enough near the ticket window, someone will come up and ask if you want a free ticket.  I've never paid for a ticket at Kent in some 10-15 games seen there.  Got freebies at Akron two years ago, as well.

Very nice to see everyone planning to go to the away games.

Bet that didn't happen much at all just a handful or so of years ago.

My question is, how are these tickets being paid for?  I highly doubt that Akron, Kent or anyone else is simply giving OHIO football tickets (though maybe they should give these away).  Is this an appropriate use of resources?

maybe since they only do it for conference games maybe the MAC schools do give each other so many tickets. Instead of selling them Ohio is giving them to season ticket holders.

No wonder MAC schools are all financially sinking in revenue streams, giving away the product is not a good business model.

Speaking of money does anyone know what the net was from our games with Louisville and Austin Peay?

There was an article about this sometime last season....

I believe the gist of it was that the MAC started a "ticket exchange" program that required schools to provide free tickets to the opponents' season ticket holders. Every school in the MAC is doing this. The reasoning was to try to better encourage a culture of traveling.

I don't think it did (or will) work, but I'm happy to take the tickets! As we can all attest, though, NO ONE in the MAC travels very well. When listing out the largest visiting crowds in Peden over the last 10 years, I would rank...

1. Marshall
2. Wyoming
3. Wofford
4. Norfolk State
5. Everyone else brought 10 fans

Sad, but true!

As far as getting tickets.. I got my FREE Akron tickets in the mail today. They are general admission tickets but something tells me there will be plenty of places to sit..

Almost the entire East side is General Admission..
