BCS Games
NIU -3.5 at Purdue Final NIU 55, Purdue 24
CMU +23 @ NC State Final NC State 48, CMU 14
Miami +24 @ Illinois Final Illinois 50, Miami 14

Other FBS Schools
U. Conn @ Buffalo +2.5 Final Buffalo 41, U Conn 12

MAC Games
Toledo @ Ball State -3 Final Ball State 31, Toledo 24
Kent State @ WMU -3 Final Kent 32, WMU 14
Akron @ BG -15.5 Final BG 31, Akron 14

Other games:
Final Lousiville 72, FIU 0
Final
Idaho 26, Temple 24

Idle - EMU, Ohio, U. Mass, NTSU, Marshall

A win by NIU would give the MAC two BCS wins this year, both by NIU. Buffalo has a shot at U.Conn, too, . The key MACtion game this week, though, is Toledo at Ball State. The West is looking like a three team race, Toledo, Ball State, and NIU in the running, and this game is an important one for the West race.

Anyone else shocked that WMU is favored in anything?? They have had an absolutely miserable start.

I don't think Akron is getting much credit for what it did against Michigan after Michigan almost lost again to a UConn team that has a loss to Towson State. In addition, Akron almost lost to James Madison, got blown out by Central Florida and lost to Louisiana-Lafayette, whose only other win is against Nichols State (which has 2 losses by 60+ points). UCF does seem to be a good team, though. For Akron to not be 20-plus-point underdogs seems like an improvement for the Zips.

The Akron line doesn't particularly surprise me. They have played a lot better the last couple weeks. Having WMU favored is a bit of a surprise, though.

Without Archer KSU's running game is so one-dimensional. Archer also catches a lot of swing type passes. He really changes the whole dynamic of their offense.  I saw their win last year against Rutgers and they can be tough when they are hitting on all cylinders.  I thought he was going to play against Penn State, but he didn't.  I think the dynamics of that game would have been much different if Archer had played.  If he plays against WMU, I pick KSU.  If not, I think WMU is the logical choice.

If by "BCS" you mean automatic qualifiers, you need to count UConn-Buffalo in that group.  The AAC has taken the Big Least's AQ slot for BCS bowls for this season.

The bookies must be assuming that Archer will see limited or no action again this week.  He was in for one pass play at LSU two weeks ago and stayed on the sideline at Penn St, maybe because of the rain.

Miami sucked, but that's nothing new. NIU really poured it on Purdue, and Buffalo is taking it to U.Conn.

And CMU is getting hammered by NC St.  The only unexpected thing is the margin of NIU's win over PU and Buffalo's lead over UConn.  I expected both to be much closer.

Buffalo and Kent State showed a lot of life this week against demoralized opponents. OHIO better be ready in November or risk finishing the MAC season at 4-4 again.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended

It's kind of amazing just how bad WMU has become in a single year. Pundits that thought their coach would do one-and-done and move up were obviously mistaken. He's a salesman and a recruiter, and he can walk on fire and broken glass, but he still has to prove he can win on the field.
