Forgive my ignorance, but am I correct in thinking you're not allowed to have alcohol at Tailgreat Park?

Put it in a Solo cup and don't be out of control.  You'll be fine.

It's Athens, you'll be fine. Just don't have glass or an open container of beer. Put it in a cup and mix what you want with it, and drink away. The "don't get out of control" advice is always good. When they moved the drinking age to 21 in Ohio everyone thought Court and Union Streets would die because most students (except for seniors and grad students are under that age). Flash forward to 2013 - there are more bars on Union and Court than ever before. Someone is keeping them open.

As a side note I'm not sure that I ever saw it officially written somewhere but in 2009-2012 when I was around for athens I would always bring beer into the Rocky Student Tailgate and drink straight from the can.

A friend who worked for athletics at the time told me it was allowed and when I did it no one ever approached me about it.  I imagine I did it 3-5 times.  I was really astonished if it was actually allowed that students never caught on.  Of course you got kicked out when the game started and therefore all your beer needed to be gone by then, but that was a welcome challenge.

If you plan ahead, you can get a tent for your group and a permit for alcohol.  They rope off the tent.  This is great for larger gatherings.

You're more likely to get a ticket from parking services than get busted for open container.

Well, I'll be parking on Elmwood so I'm feeling pretty good overall based on that statement.

Glad to hear that.  At least we won't have the usual "parking lot" in front of my house when there is an OU event or Ryan's cooking.

Just for that I may have to come over and ruin you in some cornhole.
