To me, much of this is so obvious that it's stunning that our coaches don't see it, use it, do it:

I'll start...you all add yours:

We need to run some two back sets--give the oppo's D more to prepare for and make it less obvious who's getting the ball on a run.

TT needs to run it more and to be in more rollout (regular and naked) situations. QB's all over college ball do it. The numbers on the lessening of TT's carries are stark and that lessening takes our spark away and lessens the effectiveness of the rest of what we do. We have sufficient back-ups if TT gets hurt. Sorry, but ya gotta use TT's best against the small chance that he'll get hurt. Also, TT keeps on the option.

Speed in the backfield--speed to get to the edge. Answer: Daz has to get some carries. Preferably out of two back sets. Otherwise, we just don't have edge threats If you saw BG vs. Mississippi State, they both have edge threat speed.

Boykin needs to start. I love Beau. But, for whatever reason, our running game works better when Boykin is in.

I agree Monroe Slavin. I'd love to see more of a two back set. It seems like TT holds the ball out for a hand-off for so long, it focuses the defense on the running back. It looks like the D could actually take the hand-off and run the other way. TT is not rolling out this year - that's the exact thing that made him successful in seasons past. This should be his best year, but it's not. He looks frozen at times. We have so many weapons this year that we are not using. I'm okay with our defense. Yes, they ran the ball too much today, and some of their catches were in the remarkable category - the ball was bouncing their way, but the D is solid. Beau is a good back, but not if you can put a spy on him and continually key in on him. Boykin has looked more effective this season, I think for the fact that they are not expecting another running back to run the ball. Oh well, thoughts from an amateur fan of 25 years.

Throw the bomb to Cochran, and anyone else with like speed, six times a game. At best we score or have a long gain, and it creates great excitement. At worse we spread the defense. Try it, if it does not work what have you lost? The easy part, is that there is probably six first and Beau, that went for chump change yards. Replacing that play, with the bomb would be ideal.

Yesterday was painful and unlucky. Hard to blame a bunch of college kids for being human though.

How about a trick play once in a while. The wide receiver throwing a pass, used to be part of our game plan. I believe I remember Brazil throwing one??

We have so many injuries, maybe we should get a natural grass field.

I am still not sure what happened with the trick play in the first half yesterday - I could not see it really well from where I was.

The ball changed hands twice before it was thrown. I do not know who threw the ball, but it was luckily not another turnover. It was thrown to a hole in the middle multiple CMU defenders, with no Ohio player anywhere near. I think the closest Ohio player was Matt Waters, who was way down field.

There just seemed to be multiple times yesterday where everyone was not on the same page...

What happened on that play was CMU's front destroyed our O-Line and was sitting in the backfield.

Agree about us being too unemotional.

What about quick hitter running plays.

Let's go 'under center' at times so our running backs set up closer to the line of scrimmage.

We used the hurry-up on our first drive but then abandoned it. It was somewhat effective on that first drive--but the point is a mixture of tempo just as a pitcher changes speeds to keep batter off balance

Almost all of what we're discussing here is not about physical talent (which can't much be changed). It's about thinking, the mental side--over which we have significant control.

Here is a large part of the problem. Per Akrley

"Tettleton rushed for more than 600 yards in 2011, and that total fell to 250 in 2012. This season Tettleton has been even more reluctant to use his legs (13 attempts, negative-8 yards)."
