What is going on with the run defense lately? End around sweeps killed them last week and caused them to lose the game. (Of course, they had 4 turnovers which does not help).  Now this week, their running game is chewing up yardage and if it was not for the mistakes on offense and turnovers, this would be a much closer game. Ohio is giving up big yardage and big plays on the run and looks like they do not want to get hurt tackling anyone. Too many missed tackles and bad offensive reads. The #1 defense against the run in the MAC slipped to #2 this week and after today, probably even further.

If it was not for the big play offense today and a couple of turnovers by Eastern, this would be a closer game. Also, what happened to Ohio's running game. Of course, run up the middle all of the time is not too hard to figure out by the opponent's defense. Need more creativity on the play calling still or this team will not win the MAC and possibly not their bowl game either.

This team still has the chance to run the table the rest of this year, but not until they get their offense together more consistently and stopping the run on defense. I do like the pass play calling today and getting TT out of the pocket more. That is encouraging, but it is not called consistently from game to game. Open up the offense as I have been saying for a long time. They have the play makers to do it.

Very well could be Linebackers. They do come up with big stops from time to time, but it is not consistent. They do not read the other team's offense well and get fooled an awful lot. If Eastern can run on them like this, what will happen when they play a better team?

Last week's lost still sticks in my gut and it was all due to the run play calling by Central. Thank God for the offense today as this would be much closer. I hope Albin continues to keep the play calling opened up, but it does not seem to happen until the 2nd half. He is way too conservative at times for my taste and very predictable. If I can tell you what they are going to do, I am sure the other team's defense can, too.

Not today.  Have to have something to work on.  NIU is last in the MAC in Pass Defense and Central passed for 200 against them in their 1st half today.  There will always be something.

CMU & EMU each have an O line that averages over 300 lbs.  They both pushed us around pretty good, and they both opened holes for some very good runners.  I'm not sure if we'll face O lines like that the rest of the year, but our D line really needs help against the bigger O lines.

It looked like a lot of the gashing runs happened when their guy did a back cut and we werent there in that hole and guys were a half-step from making a tackle.  i dont know if it was lack of execution or effort, or some of both.

But do give that back credit....he is a ball player.
