Big Ten heavyweights Iowa and Wisconsin, well Wisconsin anyway, have struggled to gain 78 yards on 31 plays in the first quarter. What ugly football.

And how about Nebraska-Northwestern with 21 possessions in a row without a score until NW broke the tie with a field goal. Go big ten!

My purple fails at the end

4th and 15, they let Nebraska convert, then with 4 seconds left and 49 yards, they give up a Hail Mary. Northwestern went into the "prevent (victory) defense", rushing three, and sending 8 dbs back. If you're going to play that defense, you've got to live with the consequences.

I'd rather be lucky than good , Nebraska should not have won the game, but did.

Mich & MSU -- both top 25 teams -- weren't much better in the third quarter: 31 plays, 84 yds, 1 FG between them.  Mich had -6 total yds.

There is something to be said about playing defense.

Something about championships.

there's something about terrible offenses too. Nebraska does not know how to play defense.

When Bo P was hired they expected he would field a good defense at least.

I'm thinking that he is not getting good defensive players lately

Well, as a head coach, he can't spend all his time on defense like he could as a Coordinator, and he has a fairly new Coordinator with no prior experience as one, after Carl Pelini went to FAU.

He has been there since 2008. The recruits are his own. He has coached for the 49ers, Patriots, Packers. Has been DC for Nebraska, Oklahoma Co-DC, LSU. Since 2008 as head coach he has four B1G division championships. It might be that "he" has not gotten good defensive players.  He has never stayed anywhere long enough, except now, for all the players to be his own.  I know he can coach.  Perhaps kids with choices see something in his program they are passing on.

I think he's getting pretty good athletes overall, Nebraska has never had hightly ranked recruiting classes for easily recognized reasons, he's not getting them on the defensive side of the ball.
