My take on things. We were really a very good team when TT ran the ball a lot. He was like Lynch with NI. Last year we started off that way. We beat Penn State and started off 7-0. Again I’m going from memory so I hope I’m accurate. Around the 3rd or 4th game TT sat out with an injury. We still won because it was an inferior opponent. After he was hurt he rarely ran the ball anymore the rest of the season. I think it was because Frank and some of the other coaches didn’t want him to run a lot because he was so important to the team and they feared that he would get hurt again. That plus all of the injuries we had last year led to a bad finish but we still won our second consecutive bowl game so it was a decent year. Flash forward to this year. From the start of the season I don’t feel that they planned to run TT very much (read almost never). Tyler’s a great athlete but I can see where he is probably not as durable as a guy like Lynch. Anyway I think the coaches obviously felt like the best chance for success was to keep TT healthy. We beat all of the bad teams with the exception of Central Michigan but we haven’t given a good team even a good game. So here’s the deal, we’ll play out the rest of the season and hopefully win another bowl game and finish ether 8-4 or 9-5. Another winning season could help us with recruiting so we can continue to improve our team. No matter what I will continue to root for them like it’s my job.

Will be there rooting for the G&W!  So happy to see wins as opposed to what I watched in the 80's and 90's.

I agree with everything except that part. Marshall and North Texas are both good teams IMO.

I agree that NTSU and stupd cow are decent teams.

I do not agree that 1) a team's emph should be on a qb's health instead of running that qb, espec when, as the first post here says, having that qb as a runner was key to when we were undefeated and 2) that being a fan means supporting one's team with absolutely no criticism at all.

If a team or player refuses to use one of the player's key skills, they why use that player.

Really, Lynch running is so key to NIU and TT running had us rolling.  NIU continues with it...but we stop it.  Does that make any sense at all.

By the way, I am in no way advocating that we expose a player to injury.  But asking a player to do what every other player does in bearing the normal, inherent risk of injury in the game is reasonable.

Let me take it another way for you.

If you owned a business and all of your employees only looked at the positives and only told you good things even though the business was losing money, would you be happy.  Would you keep a sunny face because all the inside buzz was 'everything's perfect' or would you want to know the truth and try to react to that truth.

Think what would sentiment would in respect of that business...and you'll understand some of the sentiment you are seeing here...and will see more and more of if things do not change significantly and promptly.

I am not sure what my take on the team is but I do no have a good feeling about KSU game.

I posted some time back that KSU had played a bit tougher schedule than us and that while they appear to be terrible they are also a victim of scheduling.

Common league opponents KSU 1-3  OHIO 2-2 Buffalo, Miami, BGSU, Akron (both beat Miami)

KSU other opponents- NIU (L), Ball State (L), WMU(w)

OHIO other opponents-EMU (W), CMU (L)

We should have the edge and I am ALL IN FOR OHIO and agree with Monroe..We need to win in a big way.

It does appear that we have hit a plateau in wins, @ 8 or 9 per year.
Compared to where we were it's great.
Now how do we break through to the next level 10 or more every year?
Is it needed talent, years without so many injuries, or something else?
At the end of the day I do agree with an earlier post that TT has stopped running. That removes 1 dimension from our O that the opponent needs not be concerned with.
However, I believe,  these past 2 games were lost at the line of scrimmage.
Coach did say earlier in the season that he saw this team improving as the season progressed. It appears this improvement ended 2-3 games ago.
If the BG game is at the fault of the coaches, according to Frank, that's unacceptable. We have a great group that I still have confidence in. Was he really just covering up for the players? Was he as concerned with the lack of player leadership, or maybe all 3 aspects.

My guess is a combination of all the things you mentioned.  BG and Buffalo are good football teams but complete and utter domination better, I don't think so.  Effort and attitude were the biggest components contributing to the losses IMHO.  Can't help but think that maybe Buffalo beat them twice.

I think Ohio just needs to win a title every now and then.  A MAC title, not the lame MAC East "title" or a bowl "championship".

If we didn't choke in 2011 and beat NIU, there would be much less hand wringing right now.

Count me in as one of those.  That was a very emotionally draining night!

That was a very hard fought game, especially prior to the safety. I have no doubt it took a lot out of both teams. Buffalo didn't look any better against Toledo, at least until the 4th quarter.
