I actually clapped when he did that.  The cat gave me a "moron" look.

It deserves the ESPN top 10.

C'mon.  How long has it been since we invented a verb (the k word)...now we're back at it with "Terhuned."

This is great stuff.

Talk about tackling technique...here are two OHIO defenders showing us how NOT to tackle:

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/11/kent-state-fake-punt-touchdown-fat-guy-touchdown/

Talk about ugly.  Our technique is to either throw our body towards a guy or pat him on the back.

Seriously - how was our special teams, whether coaches or players or both, so completely clueless as to the possibility of a fake there? How?  You have to be completely braindead to not think the game situation combined with the score and the team didn't amount to the highest probability of a fake.

On the radio they said it was Devin Bass who missed the tackle, which surprised me as he's normally a very good tackler. On the replay, it's #7, which would be Daz.  The other missed tackle is by Jovon Johnson, who took a really bad angle.

I clapped and cheered for that play, it was fantastic.  Kent coaches easily spotted the opportunity in films .  Similarly when OHIO met Marshall in Detroit, Marshall gave the OHIO punter the complete left side but the OHIO braintrust had no one like Kent has in their domain to know when to do it.

Very nice play by the KSU punter to retrieve the ball and get a forty yard punt off.

What bothered me more than anything was watching Carpenter jog down the field behind the play!  A hustling player would have caught him right after the hurdle.  Kinda made me sick for the I don't know how many times all night!

Another major disappointment for me is Travis Carrie.  I think his NFL prospects are dwindling.  On Dri's last TD, running East and West,  Carrie ended up sitting and then laying on the ground as Dri went by.  It almost looked like he wanted no part of it.  It sure looked strange to me.  Not much effort!  It looked every bit as bad as TT's sit down.

Are you serious? On the replay, Carpenter was running harder than anyone, and closing fast, but considering he started out rushing the punt, he had a lot of ground to make up. He gained 7 yards the last 20.

As for Carrie, he wasn't even supposed to play. I'm not sure why he was out there, except that I think he still cares.

LC - I watched the replay last night on TV and also the video that's been posted on here and yes - I'm serious.  Yes, he did "rush the punter" and was behind the play.  However, if you watch it closely, you will see that he was not that far away from a 260+# big man running and looked like he had given up on the play!  Had he displayed a never quit attitude he would have easily caught the guy! I am disappointed in that kind of play!  IMHO!

Don't know why Carrie should or should not have been playing.  However, what I saw was probably worse than what everyone is screaming on here re: TT's sit down. IMHO

I would say that on the replay, I can't see Carpenter at all from about the 40 to the 20. Maybe he wasn't running hard then, or maybe he got slowed trying to get by/over Daz, but I can see that he was running hard the last 20 yards because he was closing fast.

LC - Look at the video listed above in this thread.  What I saw last night was better than this video, but you can see #35 running behind the play as if he couldn't do anything about the run.  As it was he did run fast and caught up by the end zone.  I think he may have thought Daz or Johnson was going to get the big guy.  When they didn't he kicked it in.  He was only about 6 yds. behind the player originally.  Had he played to the end of the play, my feeling is he would have caught the guy "shortly" after Daz missed.

You think that was Daz or the other #7?

On the radio I am pretty sure I remember him saying it was Devin Bass, but it was definitely #7 on the replay. The ESPN announcer said it was Shawn Harris, the other #7, and while he's a DB, I'm pretty sure he's redshirting this year. Size won't tell you anything - they are both about the same size. Who would have been more likely to be returning punts? A true Freshman preferred walkon, or Daz? Who would have been more likely to miss that tackle? A DB, or Daz? Also, Daz is on the participation report, Harris isn't. I'm going with Daz here.

L.C., I think you are right.  I wasn't thinking about  the return man. Given the tackling style shown, it looked more like an offensive player.  However, #51 appeared to be playing two hand tag on the play (and I think he missed that too).

Please do not get lost in the details and take the shine off how we got Terhuned on that one.

It was one splendid Terhune.

51 was Jovon Johnson. Here's the full play. In my mind the blame goes to the DE on the far side (which I'm sure he was told to do - but, who has contain???). He circles around inside, and is totally out of the play. Jovon Johnson was the 2d guy in at the top. He gets blocked, but hustles back to try to stop Terhune. He just took a bad angle. Had Terhune even had to pause a little from hurdling Daz, the angle would have been right, but since he didn't even slow down going over Daz, Johnson ended up missing behind him. You can see early in the play Carpenter is 5 yards behind Terhune. With 55 yards to go, in this version you can see Carpenter is only 5 yards behind Terhune, and in the second angle you can see him slow up, before accelerating again. I see Devin Jones running hard and closing a lot of ground from clear on the far side, and Aaron Macer in the picture as well.

It was #2 on ESPN's top ten of the day.  The one-handed grab by a Kent receiver was #8.
