Nice story. I also posted that link over on that OL thread. That link wasn't workig so here's another or paste this in your browser

http://thepost.ohiou.edu/content/football-preuhs-hopes-wo...

My son goes to Ed's with Jake. Jake is both tough and smart. He's a high character kid. I got a kick out of watching him last Saturday night in the D1 regional semifinal playoff game at Akron's Infocision stadium. It was snowing and about 19 degrees with a wind chill around 5 degrees and out comes Jake in short sleeves ready to go. He's very intense on the field, but always plays smart. He's a great kid who passed up an offer from Yale and a number of other prestigious schools because he really loves OU.

On another note, Tyler King who plays on the line with Jake apparently had an offer from OU, but he balked to see what other offers would come in, then OU withdrew the offer and now he's apparently going to BG. King is a beast and goes both ways. I don't know all the details of what aqctually happened, but  I'd love to see King in Athens.

These kids play in a really top notch D-1 program that plays a high level of competition year in and year out.

Here's a link to some pics from last Saturday's playoff game. Jake is #76. King is #66.

You know, the coach should get a bonus for bringing in kids like this. Even if he never achieves All MAC I will be proud to have him on the roster.

I love having quality kids on the squad...but if you think that this alone is enough, that alone deserves bonus,....well, I can understand why you've missed the reality that's been evident starting with the CMU.

No worries, Bcat2.  As I've said repeatedly, I like a good, intelligent discourse/argument but getting personal is no good.  At this point, we're all frustrated with football but hoping, knowing we will be better.

We all want the Bobcats to excel in the classroom and on the field/court.  I don't have any stats but I'd bet that intelligence correlates well with athletic success.

I believe Frank does get a bonus for graduation rate and maybe team GPA, indirectly.  So, this kid may indeed help in that regard.  This young man sounds like both a good athlete and and good scholar.  That's a winning combination!

Thanks for the kind words for my son. Jake has been a bit upset recently with the Ed's loss in Semi-finals and the last few Tuesday nighters OU played in. We are all looking forward to spending this weekend with our new family as it will be his official visit with the Bobcats. I believe everyone will pleased once Jake hits the field. This kid has no stop both on and off the field. At 6'3'' he plays much taller/tougher. We are very excited about his move from OT with Ed's to Center for the Bobcats.
Jake made his decision on a few things, engineering, football, atmosphere. It was an easy decision and one the whole family is very excited about. Since his commit the coaches have gone above and beyond to make our whole family welcome. We are proud to be Bobcats!

In 1995, my Freshman year roommate was the QB at St. Eds the previous year. It is certainly a HS powerhouse. We welcome high quality young men to Ohio. I hope he remains healthy and happy in the Bobcat uniform.

Your son has made a terrific choice.  OU is a great, great, great place.

Don't take the knuckleheadedness that you may see on this board personally.  It's just the very avid Bobcat fans expressing their various views--all have the same goal, just different takes on how to get there.

We certainly welcome an excellent student athlete such as Jake...along with his family!

As one of 10 members of our family who have found their way to Athens, we believe Jake has made a wise choice.

Strange someone needs to apologize in advance to a player's parent. Who is the real "apologist" here? "Knuckleheaded." Now I think you are going to offend some who think you were referring to them.

knuck•le•head (ˈnʌk əlˌhɛd)

n. Informal.
a stupid, bumbling, inept person.

[1940–45]

knuck′le•head`ed, adj.
