In addition to the ban on tailgating they're also placing the entire Meadowlands Sports Complex (Metlife Stadium,Izod Center and Race Track), including all access roads, on "lock down" for the week before the game.

Closing the accesss roads is a real pain because they get used as "unofficial" by-passes for commutors.

There are also all kinds of issues with rail/bus passes for the first "Mass Transit Super Bowl".
The various NY/NJ Transit Agancies were supposed to develop a Universal Pass that would let you ride any mass transit in NY or NJ.
Didn't happen.

Getting to the Super Bowl itself is straight foward by Mass Transit.
Getting to the various events the week before.Not so straight foward.

Nobody's tailgated at a Super Bowl since the '80s. You really think the rich people who can afford tickets would stoop to entertaining themselves outdoors?

That's what I was thinking as well. How many people in attendance are actually fans of either team? I bet it's a pretty small percentage. I imagine most of the people who go are just rich people who go just to say they went or corporate sponsors.

It would be such a small thing in the larger scheme if the Bengals equipment truck were to get booted at the Superbowl.

There's also a misnomer about this being an outdoor Super Bowl,at least as far as the " High Roller" fans are concerned.

Metlife Stadium has 3 levels.

The lower 2 levels are pretty much luxury boxes and/or Club seats.

The way the stadium is set up, the luxury boxes have outside seats you can use if you want to.If not, you just stay nice and comfy in the box itself or in one of the stadium's resturants.The Club Seats have lounges for people to get out of the weather.

The only people who are gonna be exposed to the weather for the whole event are in the upper bowl,which is where they put the "regular "fans.

Since the day it was announced that Nationwide Arena would host the 2015 NHL All Star game, every fan entering the arena has been searched AND wanded. Every fan, every night.

A ticket agent told me that it is a condition of hosting the game. Presumably the fear is that someone will plant a bomb (or several) today that they would detonate remotely in the middle of All Star weekend/game.

That's probably not a far fetched scenario if one were determined to target 1) Columbus and 2) the NHL. If MetLife hasn't been under similar lock down for the last couple of years, NY Tri-state fans should consider themselves very lucky.
