Use this thread to talk about cheapest plane fares and which locations/airlines to take.

Southwest/Airtran is the only service that goes nonstop Columbus-Tampa, right now their cheapest is $380-ish (leave Sunday night, return Tuesday evening). Delta right now has slightly cheaper prices for Sunday & Tuesday flights, stopping in Atlanta.

What about the other cities? Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, what do they offer?

Make sure you check out direct flights to St. Pete, save yourself the trip across the Bay & the flights are usually a lot cheaper.

As usual, Cinci sucks. I thought I could score a deal with Allegiant flying out of Lexington. No Tuesday returns flights at all. Columbus is the only decent rate I see and that is still $331.

From Cinci to Tampa it's a cool $463 thanks to Delta's hold on the airport. Allegiant doesn't start running from Cinci until early 2014.

Not looking good.

Good call Tim. Looks like only flights from there to Columbus (Rickenbacker) are on Saturdays, so Christmas in that area...

But they also fly to Toledo and Youngstown

FYI, Allegiant isn't recognized on Kayak, don't know about Priceline/Orbitz

If you don't mind renting a car and driving in Florida, there is a flight from Orlando/Sanford to Huntington/Tri-State Tuesday. You can fly from HTS into either St. Pete or Orlando/Sanford on Friday or into Orlando/Sanford on Sunday.

Going to go ahead and suggest this for anybody coming from SE Ohio etc. If you manage to fly into St Pete Friday I can likely pick you up from the airport & if you fly out of Sanford on Tuesday I'm betting somebody else here who rented a car can give you a lift back there.

Love the fact that we are in a bowl.  However, the only bowls that I can make are either in late December or January due to various Christmastide commitments each year.  My oldest daughter will arrive in Athens the day before this bowl.  I will be watching and rooting in front of the TV set.   GO OHIO!

Also don't rule out flying to Ft. Myers.  Often no worse drive to/from St. Pete than the one to/from Orlando.

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

Cincy fans can travel from Indianapolis (IND) , Louisville (SDF) or  Columbus  (CMH) all are equal distance and a breeze to get in and out of.  I've been flying to see family in Cincy for years  and never  fly directly there ...way too expensive.  If you wanted to go just for the game  ( in on Monday out on Tiuesday) there are non stops from SDF for 257.00 rt  or from IND  for 363.00

No worries, there is no Department run shuttle from the hotel to the game anyway,

But, I assume there will be pre-game grammar lessons for our star players.
