Me and the offensive line were doing a great job,” Hyde said. “I felt like we could have ran the ball the whole game (like we did) in the second half, but like I said, you can’t question the coaches’ calls.”     Her immediate response:  "No wonder they lost, with grammar like that."  Please remember that she's a retired English professor, who I lovingly call the "Grammar Bigot."        The only BLSS Certified Hypocrite on BA "It is better to be an optimist and be proven a fool than to be a pessimist and be proven right." As long as you are fair, have at it. I will say this, I'd take a poorly spoken Carlos Hyde over any of our players who can not speak. Back to Top Zaleski General User Member Since: 8/23/2010 Location: League City, TX Post Count: 225 Status: Offline     RE: My wife's take on the A&M loss    Posted: 12/8/2013 6:41:45 PM  I have fond memories of watching the Woody Show on Channel 10 on Sunday mornings.  The show would open with a highlight reel of the previous day's game and then move on to the host tossing softball questions at Woody (being appropriately mournful while also outraged at the cheek shown by the other team if the Buckeyes happened to lose). The best part was the player interviews conducted by Woody.  This would normally feature a player or two appearing uncomfortable because they'd be wearing a suit that was usually about one size too small, complete with rayon clip-on tie and white socks with black shoes.  The players' answers to Woody's questions were invariably as follows: "Yes coach" "No coach" "That's right, coach" It was hilarious.  For quite a while the host was a guy named Lee Vlisides who I nicknamed "Lee Greasy Thighs". Back to Top OhioCatFan General User Member Since: 12/20/2004 Location: Athens, OH Post Count: 14,743 Status: Offline     RE: My wife's take on the A&M loss    Posted: 12/8/2013 6:50:50 PM  Zaleski,  I agree with your assessment and memories of the Woody Show, but the one I real enjoyed from Evil Empire Inc., was the Fred Taylor Show.  Sorry for mixing sports, but the Fred Taylor Show was always entertaining and especially when O$U either lost or won a by a small margin over a vastly inferior foe.  We used to call it the Crying Towel Show.  Fred would just whine and moan about nearly everything from the refs, to weather, to the breaks the other team got because of lucky bounces of the ball, etc.  You name it, and he complained about it.  The crying towel was passed around and liberally used by all participants on the show from the host, to players and, of course, Fred himself.   By the time Fred was finished it was dripping wet.  Quite a sight to behold.   The only BLSS Certified Hypocrite on BA "It is better to be an optimist and be proven a fool than to be a pessimist and be proven right." He would speak in a language everyone could understand when explaining things. Almost like he was your dad. Especially when we closed the year like we did."        I expect better from my fifth-grade students.
