...Dulaney said Ohio's sprawling Florida alumni base, which he has been told numbers approximately 3,000 members, helped get the Bobcats the nod. The average attendance for Ohio's seven home games was 20,671; Toledo's average for six home contests was 18,467.
"We just thought from an attendance standpoint and (Ohio) bringing down fans, it was a good decision for us," Dulaney said.

So for those UT fans that are lurking around here, I think the article answers the question.  You may have been better on the field but Bowls are about much more than that.  Sorry...that's life in the MAC!

Also, some of those Ohio alums living in the area are known for breaking major national sports stories...

3,000 fans "sprawling" across Florida is an almost laughable justification for anything.

Wonder how many of those "fans" have attended or even listened to an Ohio athletic contest since they left Athens?

This article is proof of two things. First, the decision was based on money, not team performance. Second, Schaus deserves the credit for selling BOB on the Ohio story.

I thought use of the word "sprawling" was funny, too.  I can see them lying on their couches, one arm and one leg on the back, the other arm and leg on the floor.

According to this, Florida has 54,232 square miles of land, which means that there's an Ohio alumnus/a per about 18.08 square miles.
