Does anyone know what our record is inside?  Only win I can think of is Minnesota back in the Grobe era.

Lost at Idaho in 1972.

EDIT: Apparently they didn't build the dome at Kibbie until 1975. It was an outdoor stadium when it opened in 1971

But we lost the Sweet 16 game, which was in a domed stadium primarily used for football.

Yeah, but Tropicana Field is a domed stadium primarily used for BASEBALL. And the Minnesota game was in the Metrodome, which is also used for baseball.

This fact alone assures that we win.

Ron Harter of the 1982 Bobcats scored the first ever points in a regular season football game in the Metrodome when he kicked a field goal to put Bobcats ahead of Minnesota 3-0.

Final Score:  Minnesota 57 - Ron Harter 3

In hoops in the late 90s.  Shaun Stonerook provided a beat down to the Orange in the Carrier Dome back in the day.

It was the first (and, I think, still only) time Syracuse was beaten in the first round of his holiday tournament.  They haven't scheduled a game with us since.

OUr record in the Metrodome is 1-2. We won in in 2000 and lost in 1999 and 1982. This should make OUr indoor record 1-7.

Note: We also played Minnesota outdoors seven times losing in Peden in 2003 and losing outdoors at Minnesota in 1970, 1975, 1979, 1980 and 1981 in a close game 17-19. We tied Minnesota in 1969.

I figured the late 1999-2003 was a two-for-one deal, but wasn't positive. Good info. Didn't realize we've played the Gophers so many times.

Last time we played Minnesota, Brian Knorr was giving out free tickets at Nelson Dining Hall, essentially pleading with people to show up. No one walking by had any idea who he was. I think they thought he worked in the SID. That was my introduction to our football program as a freshman.

Slight correction:  Minnesota tied OHIO in the waning seconds of the game with a very long FG!

Remember it well.

I don't believe that Minnesota tied us 35-35 @ UM in 1969 on a late game FG.
Ref.  OHIO '70 Football Pressbook, pg. -22-.
"1969 game at Minneapolis..."
"Score by quarters:
Minn.  7-14-14- 0
Ohio 14-  7-  7- 7"
Therefore, it was OU who tied Minnesota with a 4thQ TD and EP.

Well, this is quite embarrassing.  Normally, my memory is very good about these kinds of things.  I actually found an old newspaper clipping and your box score is exactly right.  The only mention of an FG in the article is a long attempt that was missed in the waning seconds of the first half by Minnesota.  My only excuse is that I must have somehow morphed that first half missed FG in my mind with a made one at the end of the game.  Thanks for the correction!

That's ok, that's to be expected at your age. Especially when you think you've got a private shuttle to Bowl Games. This is what earning a paycheck from Marshall will do to you!

Let's see, you've managed to attack my age, my wife and a former employer in three short sentences.  I'd say you're on a roll.  Next time, you might also include that I'm an Icelandic half-breed, that my maternal grandfather once shook hands with the notorious outlaw Cole Younger, and that my paternal grandfather was an SOB who foreclosed on a mortgage on his own brother in the middle of the depression.  I'm sure you can dig up more dirt on me, but that'll give you a little head start for your next reply to one of my posts.  Actually, nothing you say really bothers me; as you can tell from the above true confessions, I really don't have anything to hide.
