This is awesome. Similar deal for the New Orleans Bowl got incredibly positive reviews from students who took that trip. Well done Ohio Athletics.

A ticket guy told me that they had sold 50 tickets in the first 45 minutes or so. It sounds like its going to be a hit with the students. They did 2-3 busses to NO? Right?

I bet they could fill 5-10 buses if they could afford to offer that many. That's a great deal.

I think they had nine total buses to New Orleans. We had three alone leaving from Cleveland. It was an absolutely horrible bus ride, but I'd do it again in a second. It was a great package and a great trip (except for the game itself).

Not sure too many adults could be coaxed into a nearly 20 hour bus ride. Except for maybe some of us on this board....

That seems like enough time for a few euchre tournaments.

They'll probably leave at halftime and go to the beach.

Bus ride, a room, game ticket all for $50---that is terrific.

I remember for the New Orleans trip students could sign up a non-student for the same price (I think it was $40 for that trip). There only seemed to be a handful of adults who went down with us though.

I would love to know where the money for this comes from. In New Orleans, the students were late to the game and left early. And some never showed up.

Oh, and one of them puked in the hotel elevator. And why shouldn't they?! They're on a university subsidized spring break!

Oh, and bah humbug!

Agreed.  If there were a) an "adults" bus, and b) fully functioning bathrooms on the bus, I'd be all for that sort of road trip on the bus.  And the accompanying euchre tournament.

that's a good one. I think Paul may be right about the above, there were not 8-10 bus loads of students at that game. Anyway, just have the bus line up outside the stadium and leave after the game- no Bourbon Street in St Pete, so it shouldn't be the problem it was in NO
You can lead a horse or student to water, but you can't force them to go to the game.

We did leave directly from Superdome after the game.

right, but the French Quarter is close enough that you could walk or taxi over before the game ended.

The way they set it up in New Orleans, they pretty much did  force students to go to the game via the logistics of the trip.

The students had to return to the hotel a couple hours before the game to check out of the hotel. That was the only chance they had to load luggage into the bus. Then the buses went to the Superdome and they gave out tickets at some gates there. After the game the buses left directly from the Superdome with no return to the hotel.

I agree with the estimate of around 8 buses. The bus I was on didn't have more than a small handful of open seats, although I know some of those were dance team members and 1-2 Ohio athletics students who "worked" the trip.

Trapped for 20 hours on a bus with the dance team?

Merry Christmas!

I guess a couple students were arrested...and one of them needed to be tazed, LOL! The bus stopped by the courthouse on its way out of town to pick them up.

I heard about that on Twitter, through some of Arkley's tweets!

There were 9 buses of just students from Cleveland, Cincinnati, & Columbus to New Orleans that left to return right after the game (to clarify what others were saying). Those chaperones were plain idiots (Marketing students, surprise, surprise, no offense to the elder Marketing grads)

The bus I took to Detroit for the '09 LCPB was a mix of students & adults that stopped in both Athens and Columbus, although there were about 10 empty seats. I didn't go the '09 MAC CG, but the '11 MAC CG had buses set up for just students

According to The Post twitter, one of those arrested was the already troubled Student Senate President (mugshot included from Pinellas County Sheriff!)

Drunk and Disorderly, the charge

+1. Why would the bus make a special trip to pick his ass up?

Looks like he was arrested overnight last night and released at 6AM, so his arrest was completely separate from whatever happened at the game that led to people getting picked up at the precinct on the way out.

Either way, given that people have been calling for his head all fall semester as it was, he's REALLY screwed now.

Read closer.  His release was 6:13 PM, just about the time the busses were heading out of town.
