Last time I posted this, someone commented that we're actually due a home game with Army!

Another post said that service academies tend to schedule opponents with a high veteran population, which I understand, but for the record, Ohio State has only had 3 games last 25 years (1990 Liberty Bowl vs. Air Force, 2009 vs. Navy, and they open this season in Baltimore vs. Navy), and you'd think Columbus would be a prime residence for veterans.

If we do play one I'd love to play Air Force

Army plays one of either Buffalo, Ball State, EMU, or Miami every year until 2021, except in 2019 when they don't have a MAC opponent on the schedule. That would be a good year to target, because they've got 5 away games on the schedule, and neutral site game in Navy.

Maybe we could point out to the AFA that Wright-Patt is only three or so hours away.  Or maybe schedule the game for Cincy.

AFA has 10 games on the books every year. Eight MWC games plus Navy and Army to play every year. Ohio has 8 MAC games plus Marshall and FCS so we aren't that flexible either. I do think we should reach out to some of the AAC schools like Temple, UConn and Memphis for a 1 and 1. We have Cincinnati signed for a 1 for 1 (2018, 2020). Then I would like to see Ohio go for 1 for 1's with the smaller ACC schools. The goal is to get as many home games as possible to increase ticket sales. Run the schedule undefeated and play in the Fiesta Bowl. That is how East Carolina built up its fan support by getting ACC schools to play them at home. One or two ACC schools at home every year gradually inflated attendance from 30,000 to 50,000.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

It's a slow process, but Ohio has been upgrading who they do the home-home with, from the likes of NTSU, NMSU, and Louisiana-Lafayette to Cincinnati and Kansas. The progress may not be as fast as some would like, but it's clear, and attendence has been increasing, too.

Or better yet play in the Military Bowl in Annapolis so I can walk to the game

As was mentioned with Air Force and the difficulty of schedule a non-con game, the same will be said soon about Navy as they move into the AAC in 2015.  Standing games with AFA and Notre Dame (and usually Delaware) will make that tough.  They did play at Toledo last year, and do go on the road just about anywhere. They are playing at Texas St, South Alabama, and Temple this year.

I think Ohio missed the boat on Navy, though.  No pun intended.  Too bad, too, because they travel really well.

Air Force always plays a FCS school during the first week of the season so that the parents of the freshmen cadets ( forgot what they're called) can see them for the first time since they got at the academy. So really they only have one opening a year. Wouldn't count on that working out ever.

My Dad and I attended the Army game at West Point in 1996 which we lost 20-37.  Army had a goal line stand against us spurred on by the "Affix Bayonets" chants by the Cadets.  Seemed to be more effective than the traditional  "Push Then Way Back" chant.
