Ohio is not going to "let him go" for sure, but I think we have peaked out. I'm anxious to see what changes happen this year with the biggest turnover in staff in Franks time here, but this is going to be a rebuilding year anyway so it may not be discernible.
Time will tell, but I doubt FS sees this years class graduate,

It seems to have some factual errors. For one, it refers to a "decreasing fan base", while I believe that attendance is continuing to rise every year. Also, he implies that it is Solich's fault that the students leave at the half, but I believe less leave now than previously. Beyond that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion as to what is best for the program, and to their own expectations of what is possible.

I question the writer's cred.  It seems that this is his first piece for GruntPunch, which apparently has little cred of its own, and there's no background info on him so we don't know what axes he has to grind.  As has already been mentioned, he has some facts wrong.  Plus fans staying after halftime is not just a problem at Ohio.  That said, we all know that the Solich era is in the last half (quarter?) of its run, but I don't want to see it end right now.  What I'd like to see is less predictable play calling on offense -- Solich has shown some willingness to mix it up in the past by moving to the no-huddle.  BUTM didn't get us much last season.  And the prospect of better-known teams on our home schedule over the next few years should raise fan interest.

Yeah this is either troll bait, or the guy clearly has no idea what hes talking about. Does he think we're disappointed we've only cracked the top 25 once?

I feel like this is just a Bobcatattack poster who didn't like what people said to him and took it to another forum.

Decreasing fan base? It had nowhere to go but up.

This is OP's first post on BA. He might be the article author and know we'll send him page views.

We'll see if he sticks around and what he says.

Wow what a horrible article, not even close to being factual.  Plus most people in the know are aware that Solich doesn't call the plays during the game for the most part.  So if you want to complain about play-calling you are talking about Albin and Burrows.  I would say the only thing he could do to appease fans is change his Offensive Coordinator, other than that there really isn't much to complain about.  Everything else boils down to the players and injuries.

I agree the article stinks and is full of factual errors.  The only thing that FS and co have not done in Athens is win a MACC game and that would appease any and everybody.  I am still hope ful that we will win one in the FS era and before I leave this Earth!  Sorta doubt this is the year but maybe in the next 2-3.

That article has a few statements that just aren't true. Football was painful to watch every game before Solich, and Peden has sold out a few times the past couple years

Ohio was #2 in home football attendance in 2013 in the MAC at 20,672. That was actually down from 21,844 in 2012. Here's a chart of MAC attendance from 2007-2010, and as recently as 2008, Ohio was under 16,000 average.

Game  by game for 2013:
North Texas 24,511
Marshall 24,836
Peay 19.547
CMU 23,826
Miami 21,638
Kent (tuesday game) 17,181
UMass (Friday after Thanksgiving game) 13,162

It looks to me like the reason attendance was down in 2013 was that there was a home game the Friday after Thanksgiving, when the students are gone, whereas there was not one the year before.

There was one response within the link that agreed with the author. I wonder if he was responding to himself, I have seen that before!

Hope the author isn't a current student of alum of Journalism .... as he wrote

There is little anticipation to be had when OU simply wins the games their supposed to, and loses the ones they are not.

He used there/their/they're correctly one out of 2 times in that sentence.

There are other grammatical errors as well, such as the use of a semicolon in this sentence, and the mismatched verb tense:
Joshua Taylor wrote:
Solich has done many good things during his 9 year tenure; including winning the school’s first ever bowl game and has kept Ohio decently competitive in the MAC.

...or the missing comma in this sentence:
Joshua Taylor wrote:
The question is at nearly 70 years old, can his success continue?

One way to fix these would be:
Solich has done many good things during his 9 year tenure, including winning the school’s first ever bowl game, and keeping Ohio decently competitive in the MAC. The question is, at nearly 70 years old, can his success continue?

Another way would be:
Solich has done many good things during his 9 year tenure, including winning the school’s first ever bowl game, and he has kept Ohio decently competitive in the MAC. The question is, at nearly 70 years old, can his success continue?

I would agree that he is probably not a journalism student. Of course, I'm just some engineer, so what do I know?

Good question.

When I was in school my fraternity had a plurality of engineering majors.  Back in those days all Ohio students -- regardless of college or major -- had to pass what was called an "English Proficiency Exam" in order to graduate.  Each year the test was graded by a different college's faculty.  Some of my engineering major frat brothers had to retake the test several different times -- until the engineering faculty graded the exams -- before they could pass.  In one case that I remember the poor guy took seven years to graduate.  He first started taking the test in his junior year.  Talk about a super senior!

This is crap, can we please remove this? Frank Solich has done arguably as much for OHIO Football as any coach in its History. Been a rough spot or two, but this article is built on fabrications.

The article is terrible. But after two consecutive years of awful performances against quality MAC opponents, I think wondering aloud whether Frank can still get it done is perfectly reasonable.

Reasonable if your balance sheet only shows debits. During those two years, on the credit side, there were; 17 wins, two bowls (with a blowout win in one), quality wins over Penn State (at State College), North Texas and Marshall twice. Right, Ohio has a coach who has, in the last two years, won 17, gone to two bowls winning one, beaten Penn State, Marshall twice and ..... oh well. Me I am still riding my Independence Bowl high. Paul if you could have been there or State College perhaps, they really happened in your consecutive two years.

Well Josh, it seems here, your article was not well received. It seems most wonder if you are not just stirring a pot to generate controversy. Not to mention they seem to question if there is any journalistic value. I hope this was not done for some class assignment.

This Joshua Taylor seems to be associated with a Facebook page Bobcat Chat.  The FB page seems to be defending the article.  Interesting...

+1  I was at the Penn State game, and it is one of the highlights of my Bobcat fan life.
