Colts on their way out but Lavon stepping up with good plays on special teams and receiving. Nice to see him shine in playoff time. Luck just having a tough day with a pretty good KC D and some turnover woes.

If you had made this pronouncement halfway through a basketball game, I'd be worried!

What a great comeback . . . hopefully Mr. Brazill with get some key catches next week, too.

Great comeback for the Colts!  LaVon finished with 4 catches in 6 tries for 54 yds and 3 KO returns for 90 yds.

Would be fun to see him and Mike Mitchell match up in the Super Bowl.

If you were not worried down 38-`10 you were virtually pulseless. Can you imagine what would have been going on here or in BA CHat were the Cats down like that?  Watching the Indy channels post game the only one not worried according to his teamies was Luck.

Happy for Lavon that he was able to be a part of the effort. Twas not a guarantee up to the 5th game of the season.

Didn't say I wasn't worried about the outcome, just about your prognostication abilities.  It was a joking comment about your statement that the Colts were on their way out and being my usual sarcastic self in implying that you'd never make such a mistake calling a game prematurely in basketball.  All in good, light fun!  We are on the same team here wishing LaVon all the Luck in the world (yes that's a strange pun).  Now, if the Colts meet up with my Packers, I'll have a dilemma.

On a related subject, borna, do you happen to know a man named Alex Spassoff? His father was for years the head trainer of the Colts back in Baltimore days.  I don't know whether or not the family made the move to Indianapolis.  Alex was a classmate of mine back in my early undergraduate days at Wittenberg, before I transfer to OHIO.

Don t know Mr Spassoff. I would imagine he made the trip initially, I thought the only thing they left was the stadium, front office and band.

I don' think I was prognosticating there. Just observing that Luck was having a day. We were here in the living room busy building scenarios of what had to happen to get back in it. Those of us who were here long before the Colts, grew up building our hopes and dreams on the Bears who were regularly on TV prior to the Colts and Bengals in our area....of course as Bears fans we witnessed again last week our team SNATCH defeat from the jaws of victory.

OK.  I did find Alex on FB and sent him a note.  Interesting the way seeing the Colts reminded me of him and prompt my query to you and my FB search.

There are two Ohio grads starting in the NFL playoffs this weekend.  Say this sentence out loud, especially if you have been a Bobcat faithful for more than 15 years.  Provides some nice perspective.

DHB out left a hole. Has not been able to hold on to a ball all year but was a threat to be considered.

LaVon Brazill Indianapolis Colts Wide Receiver
Landon Cohen Chicago Bears Defensive Tackle
Eric Herman New York Giants Guard
Mike Mitchell Carolina Panthers Safety
Julian Posey Cleveland Browns Cornerback
Taylor Price Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver
Dave Zastudil Arizona Cardinals Punter

Who would like to project others from the roster? Carrie, Lucas, Basham, Sayles, Crutcher, Mangen, Woods, Russell? This is a lot more fun than the daily pity party.

Something else. Looking at players in the league, Ohio has seven. That is second in the MAC to Toledo's nine. What this shows is that even with good coaches, players and player development things really have to fall right to win the championship.

No.  It's about you.  If we have all these potential NFL players, then explain the big losses to BG, Beefs, kents and the fourth quarter vs. ECU.

I've no problem with reasonable hope for the future.  The future must be somewhat based in the past since about 75-80% of the guys who'll play next year were on the team this year.  Given this year's results and those of the last half of 2012, your absolute, 100%, pollyanna view of the future is not very sensible.

Actually, a pollyanna view of the future is quite sensible. What else is there? That's the disconnect I don't understand from you, Monroe. What is past, is past. Time to move on. Again I ask you, what are you trying so hard to achieve? How does raising the past failures contribute anything? Is this like an AA meeting where each of us should open every post with an acknowledgement that we are not happy with the CMU, BG, Buffalo or ECU games?

From my reading of his posts, it seems like he will be happy only when the following conditions apply:
(1) ALL BA posters recognize HIS brilliance and join HIM in denouncing all apologists, deniers, and (just for good measure) wreckers.

(2) ALL BA posters denounce the efforts of 90% of the players from the past season as pathetic

(3) ALL BA posters agree with HIM that 15 of our 16 wins over the last two seasons were against pathetic teams AND that our 10 losses over that same time came against even-more pathetic teams

(3) ALL BA posters join him in calling for a new coaching staff while denying that that is what they're doing

(4) ALL BA posters forget that "Beau up the middle" was effective for much of the 2012 season (i.e. when there was much better interior O-Line play)

I think Travis' injuries have really hurt his draft stock. Phil Steele had him in his top 25 corners before the 2012 season began as a junior. I hope he impresses folks on his pro day or even gets an invite to the combine because he deserves it.

I'm holding out hope for Basham eventually. Any freshman that can sack the QB right away is a huge plus. However, I believe Jameson Hartke was the same was his freshman year then didn't make that next step towards dominant player. Hartke was a great Bobcat, but not NFL material.

Please 'splain how the past is not relevant given:
1)  The vast majority of our players next year are returners as, assumably, is true of the coaches, and
2)  Our poor finish to 2012 was duplicated in 2013.

I hope we have a splendid 2014, inanity and distortion of 279801 aside.   You, do, however win accolades for inability to reason and hiding behind an alias.

Normally, this is considered a positive.  We had a lot of underclassmen on the lines and in a few other positions.  With good coaching and hard work in the off-season they should get better and work better as a team next year.  We will also have a new QB, who in all likelihood will be more multidimensional than what we've had the last two seasons.  I see many reasons to be positive about next year.  No, I'm not happy with our November swoons the last two season.  If you look at Frank's record, his teams tend to get better as the season progresses.  These last two seasons are kind of anomalies.  Color me an apologist, if you will.

R Fox, and others...I consider myself a businessperson.

As a businessperson, if my last two years sales were not so hot, I'm not buying it if the budget that my sales staff presents to me is totally boffo.  Without something new--a new product or a head of sales, etc--I've got to think that next year's sales are something of a function of the past couple of years' sales.

I hope for a strong leap, but I temper my enthusiasm with reality.   Maybe it's not fun.  But it's good practice.

Compare:  women's hoop--new coach appears to have sales way up...men's hoop playing markedly more as a unit so more attractive product and, I hope, more sales (attendance and success and fun to watch).

and if you stop and think a bit you'll realize why this analogy doesn't work. Change it a bit such that you lose most of your sales staff each year, and often more often, now you are closer.

As for the general lack of replies to you in this thread, I suspect it was because people consider your posts disrespectful. This thread is a celebration of the accomplishments of a great former Ohio player, Lavon Brazill. It would be easy enough for you to create a new thread where you can be the center of attention. There is no need for you to dishonor Lavon by trying to distract from him to get people to focus on you.

Getting the thread back on track, its great to see Lavon playing well. He came close to not being where he is, so it is great seeing all he has done. I'm hoping he has a lot more catches in a long playoff run, and ends up earning a starting job for next year.

I'll try to stop responding to your posts after this.  I appreciate your support for Ohio but I think that you're way disjointed from reality.  I believe that you said that you saw only about 20% of our play this year.  See if you can find BG, Beefs, kents, the 4th quarter of ECU to re-watch.

The returning players may be terrific next year.  But those who return and the coaches were have been decidely mediocre (middle to bottom of the MAC) over the last season and a half.  I have no idea what you're saying about 'lose most of your sales staff.'  We don't lose most of our guys each year, certainly don't lose most of our % of plays played each year.

Sorry.  Don't mean to insult you.  And I get no joy about my doubts for next year.   But I'm astounded that anyone can think that we didn't fail in many ways this year.  And, grasping that, not have, sadly, reasonable doubt about next year.

Watch the first quarter of the BG game.  I think that they had 3 td's before we had a first down.  [Here's your reply:  "They won the MACC, though!"  Yeah, but they lost their bowl game to Pitt, lost 4 games, and DEMOLISHED us.]

I realize that the 2006 team really got it together after prior poor years.  So, we could be fine next year.  Need to have it proved to me that the 2014 team will have the terrific character of veteran qb AE and the rest of the 2006 team.
