MAC Stats

Rushing Def up two places to third.

TT still most efficient.

Ohio now leads in team sacks and third down conversions.

NIU has the poorest pass defense.

Buffalo is +15 in turnovers???

Two thoughts:
(1) No wonder they are undefeated in MAC play so far.
(2) I think (hope) we'll see some regression to the mean in the 2nd half of the season.

At some point someone is going to face Prior/Lechner/Powell/Johnson/McGrath/Hill/Foster/Waters/Cochran/Mario/Beau/Ryan and Talbert all healthy and there will be smiles all round.

Some great coach once said "winning takes care of everything" meaning stats will show how good you are based on your record.

Help me with what this means? If anything.

Red Zone Offense. Ohio has more scores than Buffalo has chances.

Also does anyone know, regarding Neutz, he is averaging 16 per catch, is he getting YAC or is he getting these receptions beyond 10 yards.

3rd Down Conversions. Opponents have converted 59 times against Ohio, highest in the MAC. Last year Buffalo converted 30 in their loss. I expect their game to be the same except to keep Daz from breaking a return, convert about 30 first downs and win this time. Others have said, Ohio will need to win the 1st quarter and play with the lead. Take the ball out of Oliver's hands.

Without checking, I thought Austin Peay had quite a few red zone missed chances which skews that defensive stat for us.

Gonna take 30+ to win those one. Both give up in the low 20s and score in the low 30s. I think 35-31 OHIO!

I'm thinking the score will be lower. Take out games against ranked foes, Ohio is winning by 37-18, while Buffalo is inning by 36-12. I'm thinking this will be a defensive battle, won by field goals and turnovers.

I randomly went back 20 pages to find something old.

This thread was right before we played Beefs. Certain viewpoints were overly optimistic.

The good news: I recently speaked with a veteran of this board, a respected stalwart. He said some things which lead me to believe that Coach will have a much firmer hand on this year's squad. I'm a bit more optimistic, though still worried about the o-line and offensive backfield.

I don't wanna win shootouts. I want our D to avg giving up 13.2 per game, something nicely quite low.

Defensive scoring; safeties, pick sixes and returns for TDs would be great too.
