Did I miss a transfer here? Former Iowa Linebacker now appearing on the roster. He was dismissed from the Hawkeyes and sat in 2014.

Hmm, I'm puzzled by the roster listing. It shows him as a RS-Junior, yet if you look closer at his bio, it says he played mostly special teams:
2011 - saw action in 10 games in 2011, 4 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles
2012 - saw action in 7 games, 3 assisted tackles
2013 - saw action in 7 games, 3 solo tackles, 3 assists
2014 - redshirted, transfer to Savannah State

He looks like a redshirt Senior to me, not a Junior, with 1 year to play 1.

Here is what I found on his departure from Iowa. He apparently had a problem with Halloween celebrations, and forgot to put his car in park, and it rolled...into a police car. Oops, especially since he was serving a 3 game suspension at the time.

I also see that he was academic all-Big Ten as a Sophomore.

He chose OHIO because he could live in a dorm and could walk to Court Street for Halloween and not have to drive his car? ;-)

Whatever gets them in the door. Could this be a Cameron Wilson recruit? Both were At Iowa, both had their issues.

That certainly seems possible, even likely. I still look forward to seeing Cameron on the field this fall. I wonder if he was hurt last fall?

While we're at it, here is another new name, at least to me, on the roster:
#13 Ryan Carter, TE, Reynoldsburg 6'6" 240

He walked on at Ohio State in 2012, and didn't see action in 2012 or 2013, and sat out 2014 per transfer rules. He should be a Redshirt Junior this fall.

Meanwhile, a number of walkons are gone from the roster:
Matt Green, K
Joel Schilke, OL
Jake Johnson, WR
Max Corcoren, WR
Shawn Harris, CB
Josh Makuch, MLB (played in 3 games in 2014)
Mark Slone, LB
Jerry Williams, OL/DL

This is exactly the kind of things I dislike about our program. Bringing in all these players with issues from other schools. We're just as bad as Akron and Marshall with this stuff anymore.

All these players? Bet you can't name two.

This seems like a strange comment, given that Collins is neither a "ringer" nor a "thug". In three years at Iowa, he only played special teams, so there is no reason to expect that he will play any more than that at Ohio, and there is no guarantee he'll even play at all. He's obviously a walkon, paying his own way.

Sure, he made a mistake, not getting his car into park on Halloween, but is that so great a mistake that no one should give him a second chance? He's a good student, academic all-Big Ten, and that is obviously the kind of student Ohio University would want to let in. If he wants to try out for football one last time before he hangs up his cleats, and wants to end his football playing days on a positive note, is that wrong?

Thank the Lord I'm not judged by my behavior on Halloween. We will see what happens with him. I'm willing to give a Bobcat a chance.

You just lost that bet. We can start with Michael Hinton (Virginia Tech transfer) and Kyle Kozak (Indiana transfer) for starters. Hinton was arrested twice at VT before even coming to Ohio where he was eventually suspended for the final 8 games at OU and then never heard of again. And Kozak, Ha! Where to begin? Do we start with his rampage on Court Street or dive into what he did during a practice to a teammate??

2 in 10 years, holy cow its an epidemic. Thank you for being vigilant, I had no idea our program was being over run by "all these players".

I'm definitely going to give a Bobcat a chance.
