It's interesting how the results of this vote so far are a runaway, while in the Old Zone primary all of the nominees are within 3 votes of each other.

Hookfin's yards gained totals are even more impressive when remembering that he shared carries with Kareem Wilson who also piled up impressive yardage totals. If Hookfin had been the kind of featured back that McCrae, Brinker, etc were, he conceivably would be Ohio's all-time yards gained leader.

yeah, but I always figured that Kareem's running yards were just to make up for the yards he wasn't gaining through the air. Hookfin was, for all intents and purposes, a featured back.

Kareem called his own number on the option read an awfully lot. KUTM was a lot more successful than BUTM. My all-time favorite Wilson stat was the year he led the nation in fewest passes attempted. ;-) I voted for Hookfin too, but McCrae was certainly a very close second.

I just googled "Steve Hookfin" and noticed he's now the head coach of a HS program in Tennessee that sends lots of players to SEC programs.

Did we know this?

Oh, and Beau Blankenship with 0 votes! The Oklahoma Boys really wore out their welcome.

Also two different types of offenses though. One relied on misdirection and the other more traditional running plays. I think it's like selecting apples and oranges honestly. Nobody knows how good or bad the either would have been in different situations.

I originally nominated Morsillo just because we were nominating as many as possible. But the performance for Kalvin at NIU in 2006 took the cake for me. Completely dominated the game along with Everson. That put the conference on notice that Ohio was going to be good that year.
