The award honors America's best Center. So far, so good... until you come to the fact that he is one of 63 centers named to the watch list. Now, doing some math here, there are about 129 FBS teams. Of those probably about 60% of them them have returning starters at center. That would mean that there are about 77 returning starters at center. From those 77, they were able to pare the list down to the best 63 to name to the watch list. The winners is picked based on All-American votes. It is a worthy cause. I'm also intrigued that Boomer's son is named Gunnar. That's a very important name in my family history as it was the first name of my maternal grandfather, an uncle and a first-cousin. The cousin died prematurely not of CF but of type 1 diabetes. Every mediocre team makes a bowl game, just about every center in D-1 football gets names to this watch list, kids don't keep score in t-ball games..... aren't the "scrubs' ever weeded out of society anymore ? Last year Daz was not the featured back, but he still gained 1,126 all-purpose yards (93.8 yards/game), including 526 kick off return yards and 348 rushing yards. I doubt any one of the players has scored by more than perhaps 4 or 5 of the possible ways. The nominee list is diverse, however, and includes players from a wide variety of positions.
