Seems like we've come full circle on OU vs Ohio discussion. 😁

I guess we had to stay away from Oklahoma's wrangling of our rightful ownership of "OU".

If you skipped the reading like I did the first time, they basically wanted to introduce a new secondary logo... while maintaining the integrity and word marking of the current OHIO. OHIO will remain the main focus, they just wanted to jazz up some merch. Probably some various word-markings around campus, on secondary uniforms.

This is my issue: "Multiple designs were shared with focus groups of OHIO alumni working in advertising, marketing and branding in corporate and agency roles across the United States for feedback."

The former student athletes need to have a major say in this decision. It is OK but not high on my list.

I don't like it. I don't like Oklahoma's version either. Something is just weird seeing O and U in print like that, Idk. Can't see myself buying anything with this over anything arch Ohio.

It's called the University of Oklahoma not Oklahoma University. They should be called UO. We should file a lawsuit to rightfully claim OU.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Meh. I am fine with the option being out there. Personally I always favor the merch that simply says OHIO.

I complain all the time, mostly in jest, but blame the Big 12. Or back in the Big 6-7 era.

One of the most distinct cultural legacies born from the old Big 6 and Big 7 conference eras is the reversal of school acronyms.

To build a sense of conference solidarity, the members established a shorthand naming convention placing the "U" at the end of the abbreviation. This is why, to this day, the schools are uniquely known by their inverted initials:

• University of Oklahoma → OU
• University of Kansas → KU
• University of Missouri → MU
• University of Colorado → CU
• University of Nebraska → NU

I hope this is rarely used but I will say that it is at least more brand consistent than than the old interlocked OU logos.

Yup ... Oregon doesn't go by that. Their old helmets/logo used to have "UO" on them so they figured it out. University of Colorado has the same issue.

There's Only One OU and it ain't in Norman

As a person who has mild dyslexia myself, I affectionately called the old B12, the Dyslexic Conference.

At risk of being labeled a boomer or "old man that yells at cloud," I don't like it. The original "OU" logo was not broken and didn't need fixed.

Wasn’t that the one that got in trouble with Oklahoma, because it was too much like their’s?

If so, I am sorry to say I like Oklahoma's version better than this new Star Wars font (or whatever they are calling it).
