The MAC has issued a statement saying itis now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed during the Michigan game. The league has submitted formal appeals to the NCAA FBS oversight committee and the CFP asking they recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner "for the purposes of their respective rankings, evaluations and selection deliberations, and take such other corrective actions as may be within their authority.”

I was actually about to post in other thread how much I thought the MAC presidents and ADs need to impolitely show Steinbrecher the door after bending over backwards for the B1G. Glad to see they have some pride.

New AP Top 25 came out and Michigan dropped out of the top 25. WMU had 1 vote to start the season, now they have 12.

Seems like a lot of the media knows who the real winners were.

On one hand, better late than never, and I'm sure the holiday didn't make it any easier in terms of news cycle....

...but two whole days before the statement? And WMU with their own conference on Sunday where they accept their role as whipping boys?

It's clear that this reaction has legs more than the reaction to any other homer job that I've ever seen in my lifetime, and it should as this is the worst, most blatant example of football official malfeasance I've witnessed in my fan career.

Honestly, WMU and the MAC/other conferences should just start acknowledging WMU as the winner. The NCAA responded now basically saying that they have no way of changing a result and saying who the winner was. My read on that is that they also have no power to stop you from declaring yourself the winner of a game.

The AP poll, USA Today Coaches poll, Sagarin, and anybody with eyes not associated with Michigan or the B1G Scam Conference already acknowledge who the winner was.

Sadly, gambling, including resulting transactions, will rule the day and prevent changing the outcome even if someone in power had any thoughts that it would be the right thing to do. This, despite theoretically it would seem to damage gambling’s “integrity” long term.

The MAC's appeal most likely won't amount to anything. Only exception is if they take legal action in civil court, which I don't see happening.

This is one of the key points I've had in my mind about MAC leadership: Show how conference governance is done. Not only have a spine but call out the garbage for what it is. B1G, SEC, Power Conference, whatever.

We're at this point because no one wants to really govern.
