I wonder what the recruits are being told about the head coaching situation. Perhaps, they now know a lot more about what going down than we do. The coaches had to have some prepared answer, because you know that the question was asked by these recruits and their parents before they signed on the dotted line. As the bowl games end, some good players always become available. The 2026 NCAA college football transfer portal will open on January 2, 2026, and close on January 16, 2026. This is a single, 15-day window that replaces the previous winter and spring windows. Athletes whose teams participate in the College Football Playoff will have an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their final game. I thought Coach Smith seemed like a really likable guy, I hope if he is indeed gone that whatever he did isn’t truly horrific and he’s able to learn from it and get past it. Still, we need to have the situation finalized before the portal window if at all possible. My guess is Grobe was pretty far toward the Carroll end. I got the feeling that coach Smith was way toward the extreme of the Carroll end.
