New rules for 2027 include moving goal posts to back of end zone and shortening field to 100 yards.

This was very uncharacteristic for him. Calling out the commissioner and hammering away. I'll bet it makes an impact.

It's interesting I read this post right after I happened to hear the reason why the football field goal posts were pushed back to the end of the endzone in the U.S. It was mainly done so that the teams would be more encouraged to go for touchdowns although player safety was another thing that was considered.

I have been watching up highlights of the CFL for quite a while since Nathan and A.J. starting playing up north so I think I know the Canadian game well enough to give an opinion. The wider field and having the goal posts right at the endzone seems to go well with the 3-down system. It makes field goals are a more important part of the game so I don't think it is a good idea to move the goal posts back too much. The wider field also makes it easier to make big plays, which is key when you only have 3 downs to work with so I hope it doesn't effect the flow of the game either. I kind of like how they have big end zones that kind of reward you when you make it all the way down to the red zone. CFL plays some good football that is really entertaining to watch. A lot of really close games sometimes too.

I don't really follow the CFL but enjoyed listening to Nathan's well thought out and strongly articulated argument. He's clearly still a great leader and I commend him for standing up for his beliefs and something he grew up loving. I have to imagine it was a popular rant with the fans up there.

I wonder if some of the larger cities' teams (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) are trying to jockey for an invite to the NFL.

I think that the NFL, at least in the past, has not wanted to harm the CFL. Maybe as football gets a foothold worldwide their priority will be monopoly rather than promoting the game internationally.

It wouldn't surprise me if that's revealed to be the goal.

As much as I like the differences in the CFL compared to the NFL, I can't help but think the CFL is in more economic trouble than what they let on.
