What are the expectations for the baseball team this year? Curious to see what Coach See can do with the program and would love to hear what everyone thinks!

LOW! In today's era of player movement, in a lot of ways each year feels like a toss up. But they were bad last year, and lost essentially everyone with any level of success and experience, and have a brand new staff. I have not seen many great resumes for the incoming guys.

My goals for on field success would be flirt with a .500 record in the MAC. But more importantly, I hope we just lay the groundwork for a fresh new look in the program and see some encouraging development in the new guys, particularly on the mound. Bay steps back to relevance.

Agree with Ruck, this year is a program development year. All you can hope for is improvement from fall camp through the end of the year. Gotta start somewhere.

I was recruited by and played for See for 2 seasons before a new staff came in. See was definitely a bright spot on that staff and many thought he would step in once Carbone retired. I think we are getting a much better version of See at this point in his career.

The NIL/transfer portal has flipped the game upside down so who really knows. A new AD is also a major factor in play now, hopefully whoever fills that spot understands the importance of this program to the university and allocates resources as such.

The 2026 season seems to be the start to a major rebuilding. The prior coaches really ran the program into the ground on every facet from results, training, leadership, etc. Big job for new coach but also the benefit of lots of upside. Also nearly starting from scratch on the player side. Seems like OU needs to find its identity and rebrand the baseball program and live those new values to be competitive in the MAC. I am excited about Coach See. I think more than ever it is important for coaches to communicate their philosophy and brand and then execute. Will be interesting to see the approach Coach See takes here, but hope it is to focus on recruitment of young players and really focus on development. If he does a good job at that he will lose lots of guys a year to the portal, and should celebrate player success. This will also allows you to attract missed guys at the power schools to come to OU to develop and shine. This will also provide p more opportunities for upcoming/developing underclassman. With the lower roster numbers there will be a lot of player options and in addition to straight up development really identifying the right guys for the program for both fit and development will be key. The reality of college sports is that every year is a free agent year for the players whether anyone likes it or not it seems a winning strategy is to accept and build your approach and brand in a way to maximize what OU and Coach See has to offer. Look forward to hearing more about the plan and approach and see a sustainable and competitive baseball program at OU.
