Never heard of this kid.   Here's the link to Arkley's piece. This young man will test Christian's player management skills. Has anyone actually seen him play?  I'm not all that excited...would judge this the commitment most likely not to stick...

I am always leary about these players transferring from high major programs, like Kansas.
Most peaked in high school and went to these great programs and stopped improving.
Disappointed they transfer.
Some are trouble.
Others are just plan disappointments, limited PT etc.
Sounds like JC will have some work to do with this kid.

I assume JC and his staff know the young man just a bit better than you and I do.  Give him a break.

The article I read said Adams wanted to get closer to home? Guess my geography is off, thought Kansas was closer to Seattle!

I agree, the coaching staff has a feel for who they're getting.  We're just speculating as fans.

This is more than a verbal commitment. I think he starts school next week. Whether he can play (Bassett and Offutt) or not (Bota, Green and Jackson) remains to be seen.

Impressed. Do you think Christian is a good closer? The last two pickups have been outstanding. I don't care if Adams has issues look at what Armon Bassett did for our program.

Opinion on Green is a little unfair because he was brought in to be a role player on a loaded team then the coach left.

I'm very excited to see where the basketball team is going with all the gets for this year and the ones for next year. As long as he doesn't get into trouble, I think Anrio will be great for our team. Can't wait to get back in the Convo. The guy looks like he has the potential to be in the NBA with the right coaching. He had to play behind McLemore and Ejijah Johnson and a few others at Kansas, so it would make sense that he didn't get playing time. I'm still more excited for Tariq though

Nice added bonus of having him on the practice squad to push our guys every day.  Much the same way Bean did for Coop.

This is a poor comparison to make if you are trying to advocate for Anrio. Yeah, Bassett was a great talent and much of the credit in our postseason run that year goes to him, but all accounts I've heard said that Armon was a bad influence on our younger players.

I don't know why any of us would not be excited about Anrio joining our program. So he's let his emotion show on Twitter. So what? This kid doesn't have anywhere near the type of baggage Bassett had. Do some of you forget that Gary Trent was dealing drugs on the streets before he came to Athens?

I'll admit there are some slight concerns but overall this announcement is exciting. I felt a lot better about it after reading Bean Willis's comment in today's Arkley interview, he talked about how he came to Ohio thinking that sitting out a year would be bad but it ended being the best thing that ever happened to him and he was complimentary about JC's ability to coach him up and develop him. I think having another BigXIIl transfer, 4 star, top 100 recruit on the team that's been through it and is mature (Bean is 24) will be a huge benefit to Rio's transition.

I think the comparison to Bassett, both good and bad, are fair but I think where Bassett could be like a Terrell Owens to the team Adams appears to be more like a Chad Johnson. We'll see.

MY STATE. MY TEAM.

You've got to be excited about this kid. You need to be excited about this kid. Jim Christian has done it yet again. All of a sudden the loss of Caris Levert hurts a lot less.

As for all those out there hedging their bets with slights at Armon, please show some respect for for the guy and mention his 32 points against Georgetown in the same sentence.

There's a reason you invest in a kid like this.

Man...was definitely not expecting this.  Just one year ago, Adams was rated as a top 100 prospect by every recruiting service out there.  Held offers from Kansas, Arizona, Texas, Gonzaga, Oregon, UConn, Cal, and so on.  Here's some highlights from his HS days if people haven't seen them yet.

He can really fly with the ball and it looks like he finishes well with both hands.  Love the way he attacks the rim.  Appears to be a supreme athlete and the type of player that could lead the MAC in scoring.  I love that we get this kid for three years.

For all the Cavs fans out there, I kind of see a bit of Dion Waiters in his game.  The other issues have been noted, but he doesn't lack in basketball ability.  Owens and now Adams?  2014 could be a really fun year.

Count me in the excited category!  JC's recruiting skills are off the chart.

Welcome Anrio!  You made a great choice.  Athens is the best place on earth.
