My biggest concern with Mo is that he still gets into foul trouble too much. That said, I still believe he is going to pretty much dominate the entire MAC at will. Outside of Richaun Holmes (he IS very good) there just aren't many guys who can matchup with Mo.

That is a big reason I think it is silly to give up on this year. We CLEARLY have a special talent in Ndour. We have struggled while trying to put it all together so far... We were forced to throw some young guys into the fire... Me thinks their early experience will pay dividends for us as we continue into MAC play.

Saul's comments about how close we are sums it all up for me. I'm excited.

I agree about not giving up on this year. I will give up if, after our tough start to the MAC sked if we are behind the 8-ball. We have an improved Northern team with Toledo and Kent right up there first. If we can go 2-1 against those 3 I will feel good. This really feels like our Georgetown team when D.J. was a freshman. RT is a freshman stepping up. We have an experienced guard making plays in Bean and he can get hot like Bassett did. We have an international talent in Mo. Tony is solid inside. Treg is providing energy and Laster is going to D up on many MAC guards. Don't sleep on us people..don't sleep!

You guys need to listen to Jimmy V's words more closely. ;)

That said, this team isn't anywhere close to that team from DJ's freshman year. My reasoning is that the talent at guard isn't nearly as good.

I would argue that our bigs are better than that team though. As much as I loved Devaughn I think Mo is better and watch for Tony in MAC play. I think he's a 15 and 8 guy easy.

I'd agree our bigs might be better now. Might. I'd say that's offset by the chasm between what Taylor and Willis offer in terms of defensive, and penetrate and dish capabilities compared to what DJ and Armon gave. Those two would eat Stevie and Bean up off the dribble based on what I've seen thus far in 2014-15.

I completely agree that Armon and D.J. would dominate Stevie and Bean..I don't know so much about Ryan Taylor and Bean. I really think Bean is going to finish something special this year. He'll have off nights but I think he'll adapt and really grow. As for Ryan Taylor, how in the heck did Saul get him? How did no one offer him? Wisconsin Milwaukee, Green Bay, etc. should be ashamed of themselves. Dude is just smooth and clutch.

The more and more I watch/think about Laster and Taylor, the more I get excited. Athletic freshman who play defense and can score playing big minutes from the get go? This is awesome.

Of course, progression isn't linear and they haven't experienced a full season or MAC play yet. But we should be excited. I feel like they've been the glue of this team so far.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Agreed. Taylor has gotten a lot of hype but I am a big fan of Laster as well. I have no doubt he will give us quality minutes in MAC play this year. They are both all-around players who don't really have any obvious flaws in their game. Both very, very solid players.

I've seen crazier things happen.

I've felt from the beginning of the year that this team has that 2010 feel in that, come March, it will be both much improved and very dangerous as a MAC tourney sleeper -- and nothing I've seen so far has dissuaded me from that.

See: the DePaul game. No, the Blue Demons aren't great, but they've got raw talent and we blew them out of the gym.

Consistency has been the problem, and will continue to be so in conference play given our lack of depth and work-in-progress identity. I see this as a five- or six-seed that nobody wants to play in Cleveland. And matchups depending, I see this as a team that could be playing for that NCAA berth when all is said and done.

I know some people around these parts would rather watch a team that can grind out Ws and rack up gaudy conference records (long-time lurker), but give me a high-ceiling with the ability to play with anybody when they've got it flowing any day.

This freshman class is really, really promising. Saul has proven NCAA tourney chops. This team is maddening at times, but I like where OUr program is going.

I'd tend to agree with that.

The only thing I really agreed with from the original post was Stevie being a disappointment. I expected him to have his best year as a Bobcat, and hopefully he can turn it around, because this is looking like a bad senior campaign for Stevie.

First off, welcome to the board!

I can see where the feeling you get could be coming from about being strong come late February into March. What I like about this group right now is that they are on the upswing, and every player has really shown flashes of good things.

I still think we'll have to get more from Stevie and the minutes he plays, and Harley/Thomas or Wadley for that run you refer to happen. I just can't see a 7-man rotation running off a 4-5 game streak in a week and a half, but I could be proven wrong.
