So I went to the women's basketball game tonight. My 2nd all season. One word to describe this program: disaster. Plain and simple. Lost to Akron tonight by a score of 81-54. And they're a fairly middle-of-the-road MAC team.

It's a shame to think about where we were under Sylvia Crawley before she left. This program has been in absolute shambles recently. So many players leaving or under suspensions...not to mention the general malaise displayed out on the court.

Anyone else been to a game recently? It's pretty depressing to watch. I certainly hope there is a change in the works. This is year 5 for Semeka Randall....I think the writing's on the wall.

Would be nice to at least get back to being a respectable, competitive program.

I can't ever see a scenario where I'd go to a women's game again.  It used to be fun to watch the second half when they played before the men during MAC play in the 90's.  However, there is no chance I'd go watch it as a stand alone event.

I went to a game earlier this year when they got blown out by Detroit. It will be my last until Semeka Randall is replaced. It was an embarrassment to watch the effort on the court. There were five players in street clothes on the bench that game, with at least 3 there due to suspension. The players on the court looked like they'd rather be somewhere else.

I agree, I'd like to see the program return to some modicum of respectability. I had some interest when Sylvia Crawley was the coach, but I find it hard to care anymore. Hopefully things start to turn around with a new staff next season.

I would love to see them - but unless they double up on a weekend date w/Men's - no way I can make extra round trip from Columbus............

I also attended the women's game last night.  We had only eight bodies available due to all the injuries that this team has suffered. Our go-to player, Shavon Robinson, was in street clothes due to injury.  Kat Yelle, a promising point guard is probably out for the year with additional problems after knee surgery. Jenna Curry-same story. Mariah Byard played but looked to be hampered by an injury sustained on the New York trip. Ellen Smith, who has also seen little playing time due to injury, played a few minutes. Olivia McCuskey-street clothes. Those are just some of the injuries that the team is dealing with. If there is a bright spot in all of this, it is the fact that a couple of talented freshmen are receiving quality minutes early in their careers. Kiyanna Black and Lexie Baldwin are contributing now and have a bright future as Bobcats. Oh, as far as Sylvia Crawley goes-she had some good years here but when she left she didn't exactly leave the cupboard fully stocked. How soon we forget...........The rash of injuries reminds me of one of the Larry Hunter seasons, I believe it may have been Dustin Ford's freshman year, when they were just riddled by injuries. I feel that the women's program was showing signs of improvement early on and has a quality staff in place. When that many of your players are unavailable it becomes a daily struggle to field an effective lineup (some girls are playing out of position or multiple positions, by necessity). Akron is one of the better teams in the MAC and may be in the hunt for the division title,so they deserve some credit for a good game.  We need to keep in perspective that our team is trying their best to weather the storm and improve their play each day. All the more reason to get out there and support the team in tough times.

Agree 100% about the men/women doubleheaders. I remember several games where the Convo would be nearly filled as the women's game wound down as people got good seats early to watch Trent -- we had a real home-court advantage there for the lady Bobcats.

I believe the MAC instituted the new schedule format and I firmly believe it has lead to a worse situation for women's basketball. I understand the notion that they shouldn't have to play "opening act" to the men, but in reality, more people watched them and supported the women, in my opinion. This includes the AD staff, who would typically be together with both teams at home and on road trips, but get split now.

Excellent points.  I've attended far fewer women's games now than I did before.  Unless Ohio women's basketball gets to the point that we have a top ten ranked team for multiple years, I think having games on separate days from the men's games makes little sense.  I'd be all for going back to the double-header approach.

You would have a ticketing problem with Double Headers.

Riiiight....

2012-2013 (Randall): 5-8
2011-2012 (Randall): 14-18
2010-2011 (Randall): 9-22
2009-2010 (Randall): 8-22
2008-2009 (Randall): 13-18
2007-2008 (Crawley): 20-13
2006-2007 (Crawley): 18-12

Realistically, she'd have to win the MAC this year to save her job. We're consistently among the worst 75 programs in the country...it should not be that way.

Sadly, not many. But it would be nice to not have this embarrassment of a program.

No offense Bobcat Binge, but this program is way into the tank.  Prior to all the "injuries" you talked about, this team needed overtime to beat a very bad DII program from Wheeling Jesuit, and even then only won by a score of 76-74.  I commented after that game that this team had serious issues, and I was not talking about injuries.  Its time to clean house and get a new staff.  The program has nowhere to go but up.

Randall's gotta go. When I was in Athens, I was one of the 80 or so non-family members who went to games. It was awful. Unwatchable. Crawley had me excited about the team and their win against BG in the MAC semifinals is one of my favorite games. But it's past time for a change.

In the early 90s they had a nice pipeline of recruits from Pickerington, guess that has dried up? It was fun to watch and follow.

Down 41-15 at the half today....not sure Schaus should let Semeka out of the lockeroom for the 2nd half.

Final Score: Buffalo 73, Ohio 36.

37 point loss to the #286 RPI team in the country. If you don't think there's a problem there, you're delusional.

Unacceptable for any OHIO sport. Let's not take it out on the players who are currently giving their all for OHIO. Changes need to be made immediately! Also, whatever happened to the women teaming up for back to back games with the men? First, it means more fans in the seats; second, it is more cost effective to have the Convo opened and operating for two games instead of multiple nights. We are too good to put up with this "train wreck" as someone said. The question is: What can we fans do about it? Suggestions? I'm in Milwaukee, WI. and feel helpless.

Go Bobcats!

22 point loss at Miami. Eight Ohio players got in the game, including one of our volleyball players and one of our field hockey players who look like they were recruited to the team. I find that amazing considering women's basketball is permitted to have 15 scholarship players.

Cut a few of those scholarships and bring back some Mens track? It's been proven the 2nd highest generating revenue sport for a school is cross country and track.

Ashley Jordan... didn't she leave the volleyball team?
