Ohio snaps skid with rout of Maine

Simmons, Kelly lead the way


ATHENS – Ohio snapped its five-game losing streak and kept Maine winless with a 79-57 victory Wednesday night at The Convo.

The Bobcats (2-6) built a 15-point halftime lead and were in control until the end.

Javan Simmons led the way with 17 points, with freshman JJ Kelly adding a career-high 14 points. Jalen Breath had 13 points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes off the bench.

Ohio had not won since holding off Illinois State 72-68 on Nov. 6 in its second game of the season.

"Our guys have done a really good job of staying positive," Ohio coach Jeff Boals said. "Our staff's done a really good job of staying positive. We're nowhere near a finished product, but today was a step in the right direction."

Bobcats overcome early turnovers with dominant rushing attack

Ohio ends regular season wtih 31-26 win over Buffalo


BUFFALO, N.Y. – Ohio overcame three turnovers and held off Buffalo 31-26 to wrap up its regular season Friday afternoon at UB Stadium.

Parker Navarro rushed for 121 yards and Sieh Bangura 120 yards as the Bobcats racked up 359 of their 506 yards of offense on the ground and kept their faint chances at the Mid-American Conference championship game alive.

Ohio (8-4, 6-2 MAC) led 21-7 at halftime and 28-13 entering the fourth quarter. Buffalo (5-7, 4-4 MAC) had a chance at a winning touchdown after getting the ball back with 20 seconds left but did not threaten.

Cold-shooting Bobcats lose 5th straight

Loyola Marymount uses big run in 2nd half to pull ahead


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ohio struggled to score in the second half as its losing streak reached five straight with a 70-58 loss to Loyola Marymount in the consolation game of the Sunshine Slam on Tuesday evening at the Ocean Center.

The Bobcats (1-6) led 32-21 at the half but shot just 31.5% for the game and could not hold their lead.

Aidan Hadaway led Ohio with 12 points and five rebounds, while Jackson Paveletke scored 10 points with six rebounds.

AJ Thomas paced the Lions (7-1) with 15 points, and Aaron McBride added 14 points and eight rebounds.
