Let downs for football and basketball this year…

The football team won 77% of the games they played this season. Hopefully the basketball team wins that many because that will be about 24 regular season wins heading into the league tournament.

The MAC has just five programs in the top 200 of KenPom. The Bobcats are going to be competitive in conference play and it'll come down to Cleveland like it does most years.

It's incredible how truly awful the conference is this year from top to bottom.

Yep and it's only going to continue to get worse. Small towns in the Midwest don't generate enough eyeballs or revenue to pay the salaries required to compete.

Urban conferences like the Horizon are much better positioned for future $$$ and success.

Also, do you think it's easier to recruit athletes to Muncie/Mt Pleasant or Conway, SC/Charlotte NC? Totally agree with you on lack of NIL resources in small towns in the Midwest.

We have guards that can dribble all night long, but can’t make the good pass to get an assist. On top of that none of them shoots the three consistently. Look at how many wide open threes we missed. Combine that with our lack of size and it’s the recipe for a long year.

I think the lack of assists has more to do with poor shooting than it does lack of sharing the ball or ability to pass. Ball was moving Friday, but just followed by bricks.

Just not one team ... including Akron ... you can hang your hat on. Toledo-Ohio-BG-NIU-Kent all seem to be struggling in some form or another. And while Freeman and Ali can carry Akron, I still say a good backcourt can make life rough for the Zips, especially defensively.

Not a good year at all, overall.

But BG has some pieces ... Toledo has some pieces ... Kent has some pieces ... NIU has a lot of pieces. But just like Ohio, going into the new year, nothing seems to fit for anybody other than Akron.
