I get that, but there are some potential problematic issues...

1. He is thrown in as one of the guys, but seen as a mole by the group. He could be socially exiled by some, which could be hurtful to Boals.
2. He could be so overmatched that the players are disgusted coach would be so blind to allow him on the roster and question his judgment.
3. Even if he never even considers giving him playing time, during preseason/practice he is overly fixated on his kid. Overrating good moments, easily irritated by bad moments.

I know I am not a professional coach, but everything is different with your own kid. It is inescapable. As long as the kid is a reasonable option to be a D1 talent and a good team player, it shouldn't be a problem. I am just thinking aloud.

Seriously? These guys have had dinner with this young man since they came to campus. He takes no money in anyway from anyone else. To pick on this one is personal and petty. You all may as well same thing about Ben Estis, as their fathers talk daily. And it’s a PWO, you can count one one hand nationally every year where a PWO player makes a difference in a game or conference tournament.

Have we ever had a coach's son rostered at Ohio before? I think its a fair topic on a fanboard, given the current state of our rostered big men. I don't see anybody bashing Boals or Lil Boals either, just discussion. Wiz caught a stray from me (he didn't deserve it lol) but what else is there to talk about during Defiance College week?

Jim Snyder and Todd Snyder

Bob Kappas and Steve Kappas

Cleve Bryant and Rodney Bryant

Tom Lichtenburg and Bubba Lichtenburg

Nick Toth and Nick Toth

Larry Fields and his two sons

Jim Grobe and Ben Grobe.

As you say, it’s fair topic on a fan board. So my question is, could you be more of an asshole?

Bubba was easily one of the most over hyped football players to ever come through the program. Completely overwhelmed from day one. Coach Lichtenberg...RIP....was a good man...wish it would have worked out, but he was in over his head as well. Those were brutal years.

Don't worry SponeBob, I don't think we need to poll the audience to decide who the A-hole is here.

It was not directed to you SpongeBob, not in any way, it was in support of your post to Mr. Ruck. Who was doing nothing but criticizing a PWO, one that makes a lot of sense. It is hard to fill out a 15 person roster

I love the fact that I live rent free in your head. Why when presented with facts does that bother you?

Not really sure how I forgot about this duo, and Ian was a PWO, who did get to contribute down the road, and is doing very well for himself up in Columbus.

I asked for more info on the talents of someone joining our roster, whose credentials are not very well known.

You don't live rent-free in my head, but you do live rent-free in every discussion all over this board spanning several screen names and identities, and someone needs to call your bullshit out from time to time.
