Typo. Should have said this football team won 75% of the regular season games last year and again in 2023.

Ohio's best coach in the history of the program was Don Peden, who won 71.1% of his games. If Albin can continue to win 75% of his games every year, that would be unprecedented. Because of his bad first year, he currently stands at 22-16, winning 57.9% of his games, just a shade behind the second place coach, Solich at 58.2%. My personal expectation is that Albin will continue to win 8+ games a year, and that he will put Solich firmly in the rear view mirror next year, and begin to close in on Peden.

That said, would be intrigued to see how this staff does next year. Especially given that 2025 has the potential to be a very unforgiving year in terms of scheduling, will be very interested to see the recruiting chops come through of the "new" staff.

It doesn't matter because with 8 wins an automatic extension its going to take 3 years of mediocre football in a row for them to lose their jobs. TA just extended to 2027 following this year's 9 win campaign.

This football program won 77% of the games last season and 75% of the games this season and you are concerned about an extension for Coach Albin? What planet are you from? Would you be concerned if Boals and the Bobcat basketball team won 25 games yearly, because that is the equivalent of what just occurred in football the last two seasons. If Boals won 25 games this season, many of you would be irate if he wasn't given a 2 year extension.

It's more than just winning percentage in an isolated year. Albin had a very impressive 2022 season, turning around a team that seemed to be going in the wrong direction on both sides of the ball. This came after a disappointing year in 2021, which can be excused for several reasons. The record in 2023 looks extremely impressive on the surface; the 'Cats were loaded with talent on both sides of the ball with few portal losses. Two of the team's main rivals (Buffalo and Kent) were hurt by the portal, the Akron turnaround never materialized, and Miami had their QB go down for the season. The out-of-conference schedule was relatively easy. The Cats may go 7-6 next year, and at the end of the year, many of us may think that it was a good rebuilding year. He's a 22-16 coach right now with several years to establish a reputation.

Hence why I say next year is gonna be a significant year to watch. Will show if we are recruiting young guns that can help win, and if we are, whether they stay or not.

And if we're losing a lot of games in a rebuild year next year but the young guys are not showing through, that 2025 schedule between WVU, Rutgers, and O$U will be unforgiving physically. The kind of year which can very easily take the sails out of the program in 2025 and do some real damage.

You don’t recruit “young guns” in the Portal, and in today’s world you play from the Portal if you are a G5. Young guns going to bolt. Try and keep some, but face it, you graduate a senior class and then lose another 10 underclassmen to the portal each year. That’s 40 kids over 4 years.

If you lose an average of 10 a year to the portal, which is probably reasonable, and lose another 20 or so to graduation, the means 30 new players a year. Interestingly, the higher turnover seems to me to work in favor of JUCO players. In the past, taking too many JUCO players created a problem. At the extreme, if you took 25 Juco players a year, and replaced them all over about 2.5 years, you would only have 62 scholarship players. Now, with the portal, it seems that you can recruit far more than 25 players a year, perhaps unlimited, so you can get back to 85 total players on scholarship even if you take a lot of Juco players.

We may see more and more teams recruiting more Juco players, and more portal players, and recruiting less high school Seniors.

Up 20-0 and we have one fire the head coach! We have multiple Madden experts that know all the play calls, and we have people talking clock management who the only clock they manage is the time clock on Monday morning. This really is priceless.

They were underdogs going in, but ended up winning by only 20, and only won 10 games total. Someone definitely needs to be fired, especially since they only added three recruits today (two freshman, one transfer). Totally unacceptable.

Liking this. Care to share more about the 3 recruits?

I double checked, only 1 transfer and 1 freshman:
Transfer OL from Division 2 Davenport, Trent Allen, originally with Rhode Island (FCS)

Athlete JT Haskins, Bryan Station HS, Kentucky (#12 player in state)
