Mr. Positive who is a closet Buckeyes fan shows his ugly head again! Yes it was disappointing to not win all 12 games and win the conference playoff game. It didn't happen! Get over it. They won nine regular season games back to back years. They won 7 of 8 games in the MAC last year and had the best regular season record. However this is football where they don't invite the majority of the conference or sometimes all the league to participate in a conference tournament. Did you complain about Grobe's team or Lichty and Cleve's team? How about Burke and Knorr? You are constantly ripping the football schedule. Did you take a look at Ohio's basketball schedule? They have a bunch of powerhouses! Not! They constantly schedule way more home games than road games. The basketball team plays two, count them "two true road games" at power house schools like CSU and Austin Peay. And the offer still stands, stop complaining and start donating to the NIL collective to retain players and get better players.

Are you off your meds or something? I can't even imagine the thought process it takes to keep rambling about "offering" me to donate? And basketball? In the same nonsensical posts?

I do in-fact donate to the 1804 collective, and have for quite some time, though I've never felt it necessary to talk about... and still don't. Now before they take your internet privileges, next time you escape, run over to the Sook Center, you can go find my name on the donor wall..

And since you bring it up, I'm not at all happy with how far the most talented offensive roster OU has ever had regressed this season.

Do I need to start making my checks out to you? CrazyPerson C/O BobcatAttack

Does that mean I'm allowed to complain now? No else is allowed to complain unless you make your monthly donation to the old man yelling at clouds?

You can complain, but your complaints are getting redundant and thus very annoying.

It's hard to believe so many players don't want to play for Pope Tim and his 100th ranked offense. Don't they know how bad our record was in 1965???!

I will say, can we gripe about not winning a MAC Title? Absolutely.

That said, would be intrigued to see how this staff does next year. Especially given that 2025 has the potential to be a very unforgiving year in terms of scheduling, will be very interested to see the recruiting chops come through of the "new" staff.

More players in the portal from ND and OSU and a few dozen other schools. You act like this is an OHIO problem. End of the day, I’ll wake up happy the Cats have a shot at a 10 win season and you’ll kick the neighbors dog.

I'd guess that the kids at ND and OSU were highly-rated recruits who will have an abundance of opportunities to play elsewhere. Is it merely coincidental that the Ohio players leaving are from offensive "skill" positions?

Historically, the majority of ND and OSU players that enter the portal transfer “down” to much lesser programs (eg syracuse) or even down a division. majority of ohio and Mac players also do not transfer up. many go down a level. will be interesting to see. Bangura should be an exception and most in this board were surprised he stayed last year.

I was too busy laughing to respond, so thank you Bryan for taking this one.

Ohio State's 4 deep roster will be in the NFL, but yeah something something yada yada crying noise yada yada

Albin is offering the chance to be the #1 QB/WR/RB and no one wants anything to do with it. Hell even the back-ups are fighting for their chance to get as far away as possible. But you're not drawing any conclusions? You don't see the writing on the wall? Christ, I said 10 weeks ago this entire offense would be leaving. And people told me to root for OSU lol.

End of the day, one of us as come to terms with reality and the other will continue weeping into their pillow about why no one respects stumbling into 9 wins.

The conclusion I'm drawing is that these kids want to earn NIL dollars and Ohio, for the most part, doesn't have them. The top skill position players are probably in the best position to do that.

I think that is a bit of an overgeneralization. Leaving Rourke out of the equation since there are other factors and he could make decent money in the CFL next year, here is what I see:

Bangura, this is definitely true. Had he been healthy last year he would've likely left earlier.

Cross, maybe/maybe not. The offers he has right now aren't much different than OU.

Walton/Allison. Very unlikely to make more money.

Here is my take on the portal situation. In the past, once a high school Senior made his choice, he was stuck with it, and had to live with his choice for the next four years, as it was difficult to transfer. Now we are in an era where players can easily come and go for whatever reason. It's new, so this all seems different and radical, but in time, it will sort itself out. In this new era, coaches need, in addition to skills they have always needed, to be somewhat good at convincing their best players to stay, and they need to be good at evaluating their needs, and then evaluating and recruiting new players from the portal, plus, of course, also good at weaving old and new players into a cohesive team in a short time period before the next season.

How will Albin and his staff stack up? Obviously, We have the right to sit here and bitch, and it is a normal fan reaction, a reaction probably occurring right now among the fan base of every P5, G5, and FCS team in the country. Bitching, however, doesn't answer the question. Only time, and actual real world results can do that. We've already seen teams eviscerated by portal transfers out (e.g. Kent State, going from contender to bottom dweller in a single year), and teams which tried (not entirely successfully) to use the portal to make an instant winner (e.g. Colorado).

Will these transfers out cause Ohio drop to the bottom, or middle-bottom of the MAC next year? Or, will Ohio simply go about it's business, and replace the players transferring out via the portal with other players transferring in? Will the turnover in the team, with some players leaving, and new faces arriving, result in better cohesiveness (as unhappy players leave), or will it result in more internal conflict (as new players don't understand Ohio traditions)? Any of the above are possible.

As for me, I'm not going to get too excited about players leaving, or about players transferring it. If Albin can continue to navigate these treacherous waters, and can continue to win 8+ games a year, every year, with all the craziness in the system, he deserves his automatic extensions. If he can't, his contract will run out soon enough, and Ohio can try to find someone else who can thrive in this new era.

Go Bobcats!

The vast majority every year transfer down. We've been doing this since 2018-19, the numbers are basically the same every year.

but you really think Cross doesn't think he can play at a P5, or higher? They don't know until they know. Most kids at G5 think they are going to the NFL.

What I do not get (not directed to anyone specific), but Bangura is no surprise, Rourke isn't a surprise either. But then everyone acts like the sky is falling because some middle of the road players are leaving.. Allison, he's likely done, easy way for him to walk away after a long and injury filled career that never allowed him to get into a groove.

It doesn't matter because with 8 wins an automatic extension its going to take 3 years of mediocre football in a row for them to lose their jobs. TA just extended to 2027 following this year's 9 win campaign.

I don't really know about Cross's thought process. My response was that NIL dollars reason does not really explain Walton and Allison leaving.

As for it being an easy way to walk away for Allison, wouldn't he want an all-expenses paid trip to Myrtle Beach to be the feature running back in a bowl game before he walked away?

Go Bobcats!

Makes sense, LC.

This was the set-up year. The training wheels were on. It will never be this easy again.

If 2025 somehow comes to fruition without a buyout, Ohio State, West Virginia and Rutgers will be that Louisville game all over again.

"Dumbed down the schedule." Played and defeated a power five Iowa State team that finished tied for 4th in the Big 12 with seven wins. Played an American Athletic Conference team on the road and beat them and lost to a MWC team on the road that was not good this season. This team just won nine games and you are complaining.

Do you write press releases for a living?

Replacing a school’s name for Power Five moniker or conference name is a wonderful way of padding a resume or a press box notes sheet if you work for an athletic department. It’s also a strategy used by kids right out of college without any work experience.

It’s not “Power Five power.” It’s not “Big 12 stalwart.” (Jazz Hands!) It’s Iowa State and FAU.

Very unlikely to make more money.

but you really think Cross doesn't think he can play at a P5, or higher? They don't know until they know. Most kids at G5 think they are going to the NFL.

What I do not get (not directed to anyone specific), but Bangura is no surprise, Rourke isn't a surprise either. But then everyone acts like the sky is falling because some middle of the road players are leaving.. Allison, he's likely done, easy way for him to walk away after a long and injury filled career that never allowed him to get into a groove.

Cross will play P5 next year
Bangura will play P5 next year
Rourke will play P5 or pro ball next year
Thompson will play P5 next year

And god forbid and I don’t even want to say it, but half our DL, both our TEs, and half our DBs could all play P5 next year. Hopefully they all have nice girlfriends who go to school at Ohio!

What does that mean? A few things in my eyes:
1. This roster was really talented. Maybe not the best in the conference, but it had a lot of good players. Enough to win 9/10 games (and maybe enough to win more. We’re all disappointed we didn’t win SDSU, NIU, or Miami).
2. The coaches have done a really good job of identifying talent and developing it. We didn’t beat out Pitt and Vandy and IU and Minnesota for all these kids out of HS. They certainly worked hard to get better. But the staff and program also poured a lot of time and resources in to them to grow them into better players.
3. There will be more Keye’s and Kurtis’s. And I mean that two ways. There will be more players turned from under recruited MAC guys to P5 players. AND there will be more to leave. That’s just how it is. Until we move the university 60 miles closer to Columbus, get more investment from the fan$ and univer$ity…it will be more of the same

Damn, you make us sound like Vegas had us as the favorite to be in a New Year's Six Bowl. Problem is the professional's did not pick us there or evaluate our talent there. Yes some of them may be at Vandy, IU, Minnesota, etc., but what step up is that? Yeah, you get some perks you also lose. If you in it for the perks, go get yours! But to think because someone ends up at Vandy, Minnesota, IU, ISU, they are superior, then put your chubby back in your sweatpants. Because those teams were relevant last time OHIO won an MAC title.

How we feeling now about our 9 wins against the 129th ranked schedule now that Miami won?

This season should’ve been a cake walk.

We’ll always look to how big of a failure this season was - not that we won 9 games. What a tremendous let down.

More players in the portal from ND and OSU and a few dozen other schools. You act like this is an OHIO problem. End of the day, I’ll wake up happy the Cats have a shot at a 10 win season and you’ll kick the neighbors dog.

Exactly BTC! Some of these people want to bitch, and complain about everything. Get ten wins and they will continue to complain. Move on to the school up north or somewhere else.

The Iowa St you are bashing beat CFP 20th ranked Okl. St and 25th ranked Kansas St. and lost to 17th ranked Iowa by a td. The Bobcats beat Iowa State. You can call it what you want, but that was a good win. But maybe you would rather berate the nine wins Ohio got this season. The Bobcats won 10 last year and 9 this season and have a shot at ten again this year. Maybe I'm crazy, but that is not chopped liver.

It doesn't matter because with 8 wins an automatic extension its going to take 3 years of mediocre football in a row for them to lose their jobs. TA just extended to 2027 following this year's 9 win campaign.

This football program won 77% of the games last season and 75% of the games this season and you are concerned about an extension for Coach Albin? What planet are you from? Would you be concerned if Boals and the Bobcat basketball team won 25 games yearly, because that is the equivalent of what just occurred in football the last two seasons. If Boals won 25 games this season, many of you would be irate if he wasn't given a 2 year extension.

Typo. Should have said this football team won 75% of the regular season games last year and again in 2023.
