I believe he will keep his job if he can reach a 6-6 year.
However, I have doubts that we will win 4 more games due to our awful defense.
I keep reminding myself that we had little choice but to promote TB based on when Frank retired. If his contract is only guaranteed for 2 years then the AD made a wise decision

Albin was a horrible hire but under the circumstances they were over a barrel.

The real mistake was the contract. In hind sight the AD should have told Frank you cannot retire but we will put you on a medical leave and you may pick who you want to be acting head coach. And we will name the field after you for this final act to help OHIO football. Oh, and if your pick does really well, that person may be able to interview for the opening.

You do understand that is basically what they did with Coach Solich? He still got paid, he was reassigned as a special assistant, and helped raise money and make appearances.

And what would given the AD the authority to say to Frank he couldn't retire ?

BTC pointed out in the preceding post what went down.

To answer your question though: Frank, we won't call it retirement and we will just pick an acting head coach during your medical leave.

Solich continues to be involved with the program talking to TA once a week. Transfers could be the X factor that helps this program out if they can attract more of them than others in the conference.

What's unfortunate are there are some who are Unhappy that Tim Albin has turned this team into a possible MAC Championship contender.

If the transfer game is more of a national game I would think Ohio has the potential of doing better at it than most of the MAC schools. Best climate, broad course offerings including the sports management program. Stable coaching staff. Track record for contending in the MAC. TA having a good year could get the ball rolling here with Kurtis potentially for two more years. Transfer portal window restrictions are going to make it difficult to transfer up in football. I could be wrong about my hopium on this and TA doesn't succeed at it but if he does could put distance on other MAC programs. If the MAC does well in general that could help the conference too.

One year at a time I guess. New president could have a say in that one. Julie may move on to a bigger program. In the short term they won't rock the boat.

I was an earlier critic last year of Albin. I was in fear of Cleve/Litchy ball returning and a new Wilderness Era. However, I appear to have been wrong. I'm happy to be wrong. I've heard from the beginning that his team really loves him. So, if he continues to have success on the field, I'll be one happy camper!

Transfers have already been the X Factor this year. A few that come to mind:

Sam Wiglusz - Ohio State
Jacoby Jones - NW Miss CC
James Bostic - Vanderbilt
Zach Sanders - Missouri State

I was also a huge critic of Albin. Four games into MAC play, we're 3-1. He has made me eat a lot of my own words because we look like a solid MAC team. I hope I have to eat even more words.

Winning solves everything. Three in a row and let's keep stacking 'em.

My vote earlier assumed a similar outcome to last year based on the play during the non-conference schedule. But at this point, Albin's earned his job and firing him would be insane.

Doc, this poll is aging well! Anyone want to re-vote or edit their choice?

My vote was to wait and see, and I think that is still the correct vote. If they go 4-0 in remaining games, I would be shocked if even one person wants to see Albin go. If they go 0-4, that will take a lot of the glow off the season. While 5-7 would be an improvement from 3-9, 0-4 down the stretch would be bad, so that would leave the AD a difficult choice. I definitely don't expect to see worse than 2-2 down the stretch, and I hope for better.

Go Bobcats!

A good thing about this team is its WR group strength. Our athletic TEs will help down the road too. Buffalo will blitz and come after us. However, this pass strength should make Buffs play 2-high safeties the entire game. Just need McCormick to get 4 yards a pop.

I would start seeing what Quintell Quinn can do. At 6'1" and 219 lbs he could move the pile on undersized MAC linebackers.

I would also add Keegan Wilburn in the mix just to throw a wrinkle in there for opposing DCs. Just a few jet sweeps. It could lead to a TE sneaking behind the linebackers on a fake jet sweep play-action pass.

From where Ohio sits right now I'd be disappointed with anything less than 7-5 going 2-2 down the stretch. 6-6 would be 1-3 down the stretch. Most probable is 7-5 or 8-4 with a non-Buffalo loss somewhere. Albin is more than safe at 5-7 with a lame duck president.

The sum of their impact appears larger than a transfer class of the past non-withstanding of an individual QB contribution. The no-sit transfer rule was only adopted in April of 2021 so there is not enough time for staff's to optimize it yet. Figuring out how the niche G5 staffs get the best utilization out of it and the NIL environment is going to take a while. For example an eastern G5 establishing a Florida pipeline has for decades viewed as key. Is it going to be a situation where you pass on a transfer unless he has 10 games played or more in an attempt to level up on experience? Five years time there might be a science behind no sit transferring.

They're most likely going to need to find a lot more help next year than they got this year, what with needing to replace 9 defensive starters. That is the same thing that happened in 2007. 2006 was the best chance at winning it all, and so is 2022.

In 2006 Ohio was two levels below CMU that year and overachieved to win the East. This year is different as any opponent in Detroit will be on our level. But playing the odds here a 7-5 or 8-4 performance could help get that transfer portal moving for TA. Recent remodeling of Peden Tower claimed by TA could turn out to be timely in this regard.

nope. i’m good with my vote. you?

I’m not sure why some would have a hissy fit over this poll?

Most said give him a chance and wait until the end of the season.

Who was happy with a losing season last year?

TA wasn’t and that’s why he brought in some new players and new coaches.
