The only negative interaction I had with TOS was during his first summer in Athens when he held a basketball camp for young kids, my 2 sons included.

On day 1, he organized the campers into 5-6 teams, each of which were aligned with a Big East program. When I asked why he didn't choose MAC programs, or at the very least Ohio, he responded, "Never thought of it."

I think it was because it would have been confusing with:

2. Ohio
3. Ohio...

I'm partial to "that shit's will be their all day long!"

The hardest I’ve laughed posting here was that happening in real-time.

Perhaps Huggy Bear is giving it up in Morgantown. Looks to be approaching maximum density.

Possibly Boeheim if Buddy goes early.

Guess that was referring to Lon Krueger at Oklahoma.

Or maybe that the Winthrop job is now open.

Lon is retiring to Las Vegas, where his son is now head coach at UNLV.

Huh? Care to explain why you claim this? I'll admit I never saw him play at BC, but his D1 stats don't seem to back up this statement? In his later years his game at Ping was not spectacular.

Too bad Rollie's videos suffered the great data loss of 2010. I remember an interview with Jerome Tillman and TOS airballed a layup in the background.

I think I have it saved on an old hard drive at my parents' place. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.

The "all day" comment was about Ivo, I think his midrange game.

Rumblings that South Carolina may part with Frank Martin.

Some school that actually commits to its basketball program relative to the rest of its conference is going to scoop him and soar.

Very smart move for Shaka. He was on borrowed time.

Very TOS type of move. Step down but moving home to stay ahead of the axe.

I was debating with myself in whether this is a step down or not. In conference and pay for sure, but to me it's a better basketball job overall. I wouldn't want to deal with the boosters at Texas and you're playing second fiddle to the football team from now until eternity.

Some people would be surprised to learn that Marquette has one of the 10 largest men's basketball budgets in the country.

It would be interesting to try to find basketball budgets. In the Big East basketball is not the clear second fiddle sport. That said, the Big XII's level of play has been better basically every year since the ACC expanded.

Ha

HOw about this response to his move in one of my other groups grab ya?

" Um no.
B1G TEN
Big 12
PAC 12
SEC
ACC
Those are the power 5 in my book."

Clearly a football response. Garnered some responses. How can you say the Big East with Creighton, Nova, Butler, X , Providence, Gtown and yes Marquette are not a Power Conference? Yeesh.

We use P5 here but clearly most are astute enough to understand that it is loosely applied and includes basketball multi bid leagues.

Kenpoms conferences by rank

1 Big Ten Conference 17 Ivy League
2 Big 12 Conference 18 Big Sky Conference

6 Big East Conference 22 Ohio Valley Conference
7 American Athletic Conference 23 Western Athletic Conference
8 West Coast Conference 24 Patriot League

I didn't give the Big 12/10 its proper due, but over the long term, the Big East will prevail. Oklahoma probably fades with Lon gone, Tech will definitely fade after Beard leaves. Will WVU be anything when Hugs retires? Might just be Baylor and Kansas propping the league up... until Drew leaves, and then what happens to Baylor?
