Sucks for them. He decided he needed to find a better "brand representative" elsewhere.

You know what, if I'm a Miami fan, I'm good with him going. Even with an experienced roster coming back, the only way Miami was going anywhere was if Nike turned a corner to be THE guy. He really hasn't improved much from his freshman year and clearly didn't want to be at Miami anymore. There are people on the Miami board who think he even threw the game against us in the final minutes.

Here's the thing I don't get, and that I find annoying in this whole transfer business these days: What compels a kid to leave their school with just one year left? I get it if after a year or two you're not playing, or simply aren't finding the fit that you want, or there's a coaching change, etc. But you have one year left, and you leave everyone on your team that you've been with, or that made you better? I just don't get it - with any of them that do this.

Just something to keep in mind, I saw on IG that BVP graduates with his undergrad degree this spring. Obviously, hes not in the portal or leaving...but he could at any point and not have to sit.

BVP comes from a good family and has a good head on his shoulders. I think he likes Coach Boals and this team. He'll be here next year thankfully, but I think whether he stays for his 4th year of eligibility or moves on to somewhere else will be dependent upon what he wants to do from an education/degree standpoint.

No idea which way that decision is leaning. Maybe he's fully on-board with a master's degree from OU and we have nothing to worry about. But if not, I think there's a very real chance he's in the portal next year.

If he were to transfer, it would be more likely to happen in this offseason since his academics are at a natural crossroad. If he's serious about a master's degree, it would be easier to start a program at a new school than start it at Ohio and uproot it to transfer elsewhere.

I don't disagree - just going off the fact that he's NOT in the portal. So, either he's going to start his degree here, or maybe this just answers my question. Maybe he's fully on-board getting his next degree from OU so we have nothing to worry about. I'd like to think that was the case but you never know.

I'm not familiar with Masters degree programs...but if I'm BVP..I take the minimum hours possible and space it out over next two years. We have a chance to be something special over next two seasons, but we need BVP to be apart of it.

This is where the problem with the MAC is most glaring. It's a one-bid league unless you get a team like Buffalo had two years ago. And those type of teams are very, very rare in this conference. True, Ohio could become pretty good over the next year or two. But it could also very much find itself lumped together with the other 10 MAC teams sitting at home come NCAA Tournament time too (it's actually a much more likely outcome to be honest). And that is why you are seeing more and more guys leave for bigger-named programs in bigger conferences where they stockpile NCAA teams. A decent team in the MAC finds you sitting at home in March. But a decent team in the Big 10, ACC, SEC, Big 12, etc., still gets rewarded with an at-large bid. The MAC just can't compete with that or offer players the much high assurance of making the tournament. It sucks, but that's the reality of what we're up against.

What if Wilson was brought in not as an addition in a year but as BVPs replacement in a year? It's been on my mind but now I worry about BVP having graduated. Personally I can't remember a guy in our program recently taking such a dramatic leap in production and skill from his first to second year as both Preston and BVP. BVP has worked so hard to get stronger and in amazing shape. If he and Preston stay joined by Miguel, Wilson, McDay, Roderick, Brown, Foster and let's say Towns -- in two years we are lethal. Heck, I don't know why we wouldn't be one of the top 3 favorites next year in the MAC without Wilson. To return 4 solid wings with a monster point guard, monster 4 man and a physical beast inside...and that's without any of the three newcomers making an impact.

My wife's in an online master's program through Miami and is doing just that. Taking one class at a time.

Was it Matt Leinart who had completed all his undergrad requirements before his senior year, so the only class he took during his final season was bowling or something?

Familiar because they were loaded with MAC transfers last year...I wanna say three, four guys from the MAC ended up there.

Sounds like a plan to me!! Take your time BVP...take your time. You just lost out on one Spring Quarter because of virus...get at least two more in.

That sounds pretty close to my senior year last quarter. I think I only had one meaningful class, can't remember what it was. Then I took bowling. I took history of comedy on TV as pass/fail (didn't need the credit, so I just picked something that sounded fun and went as I pleased), and I got credit that quarter for my previous summer internship.

Last night on IG BVP stated that he hopes to get two masters degrees from OU with his two years left. Did not make it sound like he was thinking about leaving ever.

I'm not surprised. He's made statements before that indicated he was very committed to OHIO and not a specific coach or any other sports related factor. He seems very Old School in that regard, and thus probably fits very well in the current Boals Era.

Instagram. He did a question/answer session and said he received several questions about his future at OU, and his plan was two more degrees in two more years at OU.

Love this. Let's get him at least one MAC Championship over the next two years. Hell...let's get two. I know things can change, but for now, it sounds like BVP is wanting to finish what he started in Athens.
