Congratulations on the win today over Akron. I love watching this team. Yes, its dissapointing not being in the MAC title game, but its a lot better than what I was watching in Athens the mid-70's. Best wishes to all the seniors who gave it their all. I'd love to see Irons, Papi and AJ get a shot to make the Browns next year.

Nice win. It's great that even when Rourke is having an off day passing, the ground game comes up big...again.

Defense did a good job but it probably would've been a lot different if Kato Nelson wasn't hobbled. The bowl game will probably look like the last three quarters, whoever we get.

I was surprised that Solich let the offense loose for that last TD. Usually they just take a knee. Bowden didn't seem too upset about but I'll be he uses it for motivational fodder next year.

Congrats, team, on another good season. Disappointed that there's no MACCG, but proud of your effort.

Go Cats!!!!

Agree on all counts and great win today! I’ll say this-it’s much better ending the year beating Buffalo and Akron than ending the year losing to them!

Yes! The Browns could use a tackle!

Another impressive win. Ouelette and Irons ran like seniors playing their last games at Peden. Wish Irons would've got into the endzone one final time.

Puzzling passing performance ... but when you can score 49 points and run for 381 yards ... I guess just keep pounding the ball.

Ugly pass defense reared it's head again ... but it (stunningly) was the only 300yd game they allowed in conference. Obviously wasn't a huge concern considering game was never really in doubt.

Either way ... that'll have to be cleaned up for the bowl game.

This game is a perfect microcosm for the football program.

An impressive 49-28 win .... caps off an undefeated home season. Plenty of superlatives like Papi White breaking all-time receiving record.

So obviously a lot to praise and be excited about. And a lot of Bobcat fans ... that is all they'll acknowledge.

On the flip side ... you can't watch that and see the result and just shake your head and wonder "What if?" and "How the hell?!?!"

Ouelette finishes as 3rd all-time leading rusher in school history ... nice! White never had a 1000 yard receiving season!?!? Still feel like there was a lot of juice left to be squeezed from both of them ... sad that we only have one bowl game left with them. Amazing weapons that felt under-utilized at times during their career (and both fought injuries at times)

Rourke is well on his way to arguably being the best QB in school history ... yet bookended this season with sub-100 yard passing games? Just bizarre? He now is well within striking distance to break school record for rushing TDs next year.

Sad that with maybe the most impressive QB-RB-WR combo in Ohio history ... they still come up short of a title. Frustrating. 2 and 3 pt losses in the MAC. FIVE FREAKIN POINTS!!! So. Damn. Close.

Oh well ... it's sadly what we've come to expect.

Go ahead ... start the "whining" ... "baggage" ... "sorry they let you down" responses. Almost like clockwork ... like a November loss that costs Ohio MAC East title.

PS ... I'm really hoping for Frisco Bowl! Already have plane tickets to Dallas (which of course means they'll be shipped to Boise, ha!)

I too expected a victory formation that last play. My thoughts are that the Ohio coaches are aware of how close Ohio and Toledo are for leading the MAC in scoring. No one, not even Akron wants to see Toledo on top of anything. So, play it out.

Every game matters for recruiting and exposure. Smack the Zips, get a solid bowl, win again in that one and finish with 9 wins.

Akron 21
OHIO 49

Nice call Sparrow. Now I'd like to see this team against a quality bowl opponent.

Thank you sir. I had a pretty clear feeling about this one!

Bring on the best bowl opponent possible and let's trounce em!

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

One other observation on the gameday atmosphere:

I realize it was a Friday instead of a Saturday, and the campus was empty due to the holiday, but it felt really good to have a day game in November. I know the MAC has sold its soul to ESPN, but it would be really nice if we could somehow figure out a way to have a few more afternoon games every now and then.

That's true, but we also lucked out with FANTASTIC weather. If there was a best day in the last three weeks to be at an outdoor sporting event, we had it for sure.

Hope it storms on osu/mich all freaking day. make them all suffer

Funny how you bend your ethics for this game, ha!

I noticed something. These last two games Ohio wins 52-14 and 59-14. After both games there were very amicable meetings between the head coaches. No hard feelings from the Ball or Western coaches. I noticed after the Toledo vs Ball contest, a 45-13 loss for the Ball State team, coach Neu was much less amicable. I know why, it was about Toledo's last TD. the 41 yd pass with 1:23 left. Very glad Ohio has coach Solich.

So it's not okay for Candle to score with 1:23 left in a 32-point game ...

But it is okay for Solich to score with under a minute left in a 21-point game?

Got it.

Hahahaha!

I said that I expected coach Solich to go victory formation. It surprised me to see them "run" a play. Candle in his 32 point game with 1:23 left went over the top from what, about 40 yards out. Coach Solich running his QB will not be thought of in the same light by the other coaches. In the fourth quarter Ohio ran the ball on 22 of 23 plays. They ran the ball on their final 20 plays to close out the game. Before the game there were fans here calling for a 60 point win. I believe there were some things calculated before the game, win, get Papi his yards for the career record, get Ouellette his 1,000 yard season and another 100 yard game and to stay ahead of Toledo in scoring. OK, or not, you can judge for yourself. I am fine with how it played out.
