Anyone know if there might be a video feed anywhere for this? I could do two screens in the living room tonight.

I don't know if this was ever posted, but here's a good interview with Jason from the Johnstown Indepedent.

http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/johnstown/spo...

For those not aware, tonight's game is a rematch against Columbus South from last year's District Final which Johnstown lost. I'm sure Jason is going to be pumped for this one.

Journeyed up the road to Kilbourne to watch Jason and the Johnnies in the District final. I had seen Jason early in the season and liked him a lot, but came away even more impressed after the Johnnies defeated Columbus South for the district title, 36-30.

Jason had 20 pts, 19 rebounds, 8 blocks and altered at least as many other shots by South. He singlehandedly outrebounded the entire South team. He made a complete commitment to defense, refused to let South score in the paint.

Jason has quick reactions and a great first step. Great positioning and timing allowed him to block shots without fouling. As I mentioned in my review of a game earlier this year, Jason is also proof that white kids CAN jump!

Yes, he needs to improve his shooting. Yes, he needs to be in the gym at 8 a.m. Saturday shooting free throws. But the sky is the limit for this kid. Before he's through in Athens, I think a lot of power conference coaches will be kicking themselves for not offering this young man. Saul has himself a real prize.

I literally walked to the game with my son. It was packed and electric, very good time despite the low score. I agree with Bruce's thoughts, he completely dominated the paint on both ends. The 8 blocks could have easily been 10+ with a few fouls/altered shots going the other way. He is so disciplined and in control defensively, I think it is currently the strongest part of his game. Not sure of his season stats shooting-wise, but his outside shot wasn't there this night. It could develop, but I could see him becoming a primarily in-the-paint player despite being a couple inches shorter than you'd expect in that role.

Seemed to be very scrappy and hard-working with a lot of smart plays. Excited to see him next year. He may struggle to find minutes next year but should have plenty after that.

Andrew and Bruce, thanks for the summaries on Jason's game. I've been wondering, having not seen him play or hear it talked about: Can he shoot the three adequately?

A freshman who excels on the defensive end might be the perfect situation to find minutes here and there next year. We're pretty loaded offensively. A lockdown defender could be inserted situationally and really help our squad.

Is he primarily a post defense type guy or is he quick enough to guard wings and such?

I've seen crazier things happen.

I'd love to see his stats for his HS career, I can't find them anywhere. That would answer the question on his shooting better than my extremely small sample of him. He clearly had the outside shot as part of his game but it just wasn't working on Friday.

Defensively, I'd say (again from my very small sample size) that he could do whatever was needed. He was primarily in the paint swatting balls away and forcing South to lob hugely arched shots with no chance of going in, but he clearly had skills defending the dribbler as well. Just very disciplined sense of where to be with timely jumps and a huge vert, all without committing dumb fouls. But South didn't have mcuh in the way of big guys, so I didn't get to see how he handled someone bigger or even as big as him.

Not good enough yet for collegiate play. Not an awkward shooter by any means, smooth and athletic. Just need repetition, as do his free throws!

He is indeed quick enough to guard outside. Here's why...

I am a great believer in having a "quick first step." Jason has it...great reactions. He has the desire. Has good eyes, knows where he supposed to be. Remember, this kid's got great bloodlines, I think his uncle is in the Ohio Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. Once he hones his outside shot, he'll have the tools to play anywhere.

Article from the Enquirer seems to think Jason runs the point for Johnstown. I didn't know this, but I could definitely see him in a point forward role.

Congrats to Jason, named to This Week Newspapers' "Super 12" Central Ohio All Star team. More honors will be coming in the next few days for this future Bobcat.

Here's one: Jason on Tuesday was named first team All Ohio by the Associated Press (D-II).

Seen the tapes, he is no pg. If he gets quicker laterally, he can play the three. Otherwise he can play the 4 situationally. He will grow into a three as his ball skill improve. Maybe became a Jeff Nordgard

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Point forward is a completely different situation than the traditional point guard. They don't bring the ball up the floor, but their called "point" because they either initiate the offense or the offense is run through them before anyone else. From what I've read and seen of his passing skills, it wouldn't surprise me.

Just looking for basketballish things and came across this...

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2016/04/23...

Looks like he had 11 points and 5 boards in the game. No idea as to how many shots or minutes or from what position it came from.

Here is a photo of some of his all-star team mates.

http://recordherald.com/sports/6233/knisley-plays-in-nort...

If somebody could put a name to the big fella in the back row it might give us some reference for how big/tall Jason is...

That's Nick Ward who is headed to Michigan State. Depending on whom you consult, he is either 6'8'' or 6'9''. To Ward's left is Ibi Watson who is listed at 6'6''. Carter definitely looks taller than Watson, so let's call him 6'7''.

A player like Carter isn't going to shine in one of these all star games. Lots of one on one stuff. He will be really good in Coach Phillips system.

Shab, thanks for the reference...

Jeff, I figured as much. I would have to imagine a lot of guys are playing with a me first attitude in the all-star games... Which is fine, of course. No worries as we will see soon enough! (Or not, depending on your level of Bobcat Basketball jones)

GO BOBCATS!
