Good article (haven't listened to the podcast yet). I hope his agent is setting up videoconferences with NFL scouts and coaches. That would be a good substitute for face time at a pro day.

Yes, I hope so as well. They should show him being timed, measured, lifting and of course throwing.

I’d be shocked if his agent was doing anything like that 🤦🏼‍♂️

Come on, you got to admit, this was a silly comment, I mean the described above is exactly what an agent is hired to do. And keep in mind, an agent isn’t getting paid if you are not getting paid.

There's an article in today's The record by Michael Marot of the A.P. about how pro day cancellations are affecting the upcoming draft.

The article won't link, but if you search "pro day "on the A.P.'s site,it comes up.

The article mentioned only video workouts, it didn't say anything about interviews. There are good agents and bad agents. I hope he got a good one.

Well, if he got a bad agent, that’s on him, no one but him is in charge of hiring the agent.

I am stunned at the draft boards I see for QB's in rounds 4+ that are being mentioned ahead of Nathan. Let's hope an NFL Team takes a shot. Worst case...he goes to a CFL Team and does the right things to get the attention of an NFL Team. Our guy can play in the NFL.

I also have not seen any draft boards hight on Javon. This also is a surprise when you look at the safeties projected in the draft through all rounds.

Nathan was a very good QB because of his running ability, not passing ability.
He would be better suited as a wide out AKA. Julian Edelman type.
He may receive a few try outs after the draft, but not as a QB prospect.

Not surprised at either projection. Nathan misses too many pro level passes (sailed a pass over a wide open Odom in the bowl game that should have been a TD). His running ability will be neutralized by linebackers coming out of the SEC. I think he will have a long career in the CFL.

Hagan was a pretty good player for us who was great for a freshman but didn't markedly improve from year to year. If you watched closely, you'd see that he whiffed on a lot of tackles. He'll get to a camp, but he's not making an NFL roster.

alot of talk that the lions like nathan for first back-up... i think the backups from last season are not coming back.

there are a couple of canadian backups right now in the league...

brandon bridge who played at south alabama (i think he might have been in BC last year, but way down the depth chart)

michael o-connor... played at university of british columbia... previous was a top 20 QB recruit at Penn State......... backup for toronto argonauts.

Can you link this talk? Or cite it? Or is this local pub chatter?

haven't given it tons of thought but cfl is severely salary-capped league. and -experienced back-ups are expensive. why not take a good candian and make him back-up to start? he will have commitment to canada that american backup might not have (american backup might just into coaching pretty fast....... see kliff kingsbury. had a cup of coffee in winnipeg)

might not be obvious with the formatting here. but they rate the lions drafting rourke as an "A"

https://3downnation.com/2020/05/01/grading-every-pick-in-... /

2 (15) B.C. Lions (via Calgary) — QB Nathan Rourke, Ohio

3DownNation’s #8 prospect.

Started with the Bobcats for three years following a one-year stint at Fort Scott Community College. Threw for 7,457 yards, 60 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 39 games while rushing for 2,634 yards and 49 touchdowns. Considered by many to be the best Canadian quarterback prospect of the past decade.

Was not signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL draft. Lacks elite size at six-foot-two and 210 pounds, which was a factor in Rourke not signing an NFL contract.

This is a slam dunk for the Lions. They get a player who will serve as the backup to Mike Reilly right away and do so at a cap-friendly number. The only thing holding this pick back from an A+ is B.C.’s need along the offensive line. A

Read his full draft profile here.

and there's alink on the page i posted to his cfl draft profile

With an 18 game season (maybe not this year), Nathan will see the field. I've always watched the CFL as a teaser for the NFL Season. I am pumped to see our dude take the field.

Really no comparison with the NFL. Their biggest source of revenue is ticket sales as opposed to TV revenue.
