Here is a pretty good analysis.

Impressed Hue Jackson during the collegiate bowl.

Size may be a concern, but the skill is there.

The bowl game convinced me that he wouldn't cut it in an NFL camp. Too many missed open receivers, some wide open. Remember a sure touchdown to Odom that was air-mailed out the back of the end zone? His running ability would be neutralized by NFL speed. As your first link says, he should have a long, very good career in the CFL.

Totally agree that Nathan doesn't have what it takes to make the NFL; he's inaccurate in his throwing and his arm strength is iffy.

That being said, I think he could have a future in the XFL. The quality of QB play in that league is less than great for sure. He might have an XFL future there.

Sadly, I have to agree with the analysis (not much of a shot in the NFL). Opportunities missed in two higher-vis national games (150th vs. Fiami and Potato Bowl). Both were situations where I was hoping he would really light it up in the air and on the ground. Aside from what we've come to expect from him on the ground, rather lukewarm performances in the passing game.

All the clown backup QB's in the NFL are better than Nathan? No way. Hell, as a Dolphin Fan for 50 years, I can name about 10 over the last several years who do not have his talent.

Nate can play in the NFL, he has a lot of tools and he has the drive needed to be good. He just needs a shot.

I don’t know if he gets a shot, but he has a live arm.

I'm not sure.
People here were saying the same thing about A.J.

I'm not sure, regardless of "drive",he has the skill set and size,i.e. durability,to play at the NFL level.

Rourke is talented and deserves a shot in an NFL camp, which I expect he'll get. But I don't expect he'll be drafted.

Teams are all looking for another Taysom Hill and may see some similar traits in Rourke. But Rourke doesn't have anything close to Hill's speed.

I think he'll go straight to the CFL. He'll go high in its draft. I'll be surprised if he even tries out for the NFL. As always, I might be wrong, but that's my sense of things.

I think he'll go CFL. He's rated the third best prospect in the CFL draft, which means if he isn't taken by Ottawa or Calgary (the Stampeders have a conditional first-round pick from Ottawa), then he might be chosen by Toronto, which has the #2 overall pick. That would put him close to home. Wherever he goes in the CFL draft, he would have a much better chance of making the team than in the NFL or even XFL (God knows how long the XFL might last, even with NFL backing). In the NFL he would probably at best be a 6th or 7th round pick, maybe a UFA.

If you are an NFL team why wouldn't you give him a shot?

I don't know any of this but: If he has above average speed and intelligence? If he has demonstrated that he can read defenses and check off and pick up secondary receivers he has more than Johnny Manziel in these areas other than speed.

Arm strength would be an issue if it is an issue.

Look at Joey in LSU. Surrounded him with coaching that took him to several levels above where he was in his first LSU game. Perhaps the scouts see a flaw in Nathan's technique that OHIO missed or wasn't able to get him to change. A tweak and hours of work and all of a sudden his completions get better.

NFL LOVES THAT HE IS TUFF TOUGH TOUGH as NAILS. The NFL may also love the Canadian PR angle.

The NFL team would have to make sure he brings his OHIO helmet, you know, the one with openings for the eyes in the back of Nathan's head!

I don't think it's an issue of whether an NFL team would be willing to give him a shot. Instead, the issue is whether Nathan would choose being a 6th or 7th round pick or UFA in the NFL vs being a 1st round pick in the CFL. He'll have a much greater chance of making a team or even starting in the CFL than his chances of even making a team in the NFL. He might even make more money. Plus, CFL camps start a couple months earlier than NFL camps because the CFL regular season starts in June or July. For Nathan, the NFL is a long shot while the CFL is a sure thing.

The NFL draft has always been a crap shoot. Nobody knows for sure who is going to pan out or not. Too often, the NFL draft seems like a battle of perceptions and bias and nothing else. Had Ohio gone undefeated this season and had Rourke had an impressive game against the likes of Pittsburgh near the beginning of the season and against a higher caliber team than what Ohio played in the bowl game at the end of the year, there might have been more interest. It doesn't help either that there is a lot of talent at quarterback in this year's draft. All that said, I still wouldn't rule out a sixth or seventh round surprise here. More likely though, someone will offer to sign him once the draft is over. If I was Rourke, I would got to the CFL and make a name for himself there and see if he can capture the fancy of the NFL by tearing up the Gridiron in Canada.

Due to his scrambling ability maybe some team thinks of him as a receiver AKA Julian Edelman.

Edelman runs a 4.52. According to Rourke, he ran a 4.79 in HS - does anyone have a more current 40 for him?

He will need to run a 4.6 forty and connect on about 35 out of 40 scripted passes. Also, he will need to work on releasing the ball quicker. He went to the Manning Academy so he has the tools. I'm not sure he will get drafted but there are two teams I think take a look at him: the Chicago Bears and my Indianapolis Colts. He has Chad Kelly tendencies....except he's not a drunkard who walks in peoples house at midnight. I say a 7th round grade or a UDFA deal.
