Nice event last night in Lancaster.

I’ll add that when Coach Boals “did the math” and was accounting for those who would be returning this coming season, Preston was not mentioned. Perhaps I missed that elsewhere. I was hoping he would be back as to my untrained eye he seemed to be progressing. Curious where he will end up.

Is there any way to get at last night's video if you're not on Facebook?

I've only seen them on the Bobcat Club FB page.

I watched most of the Lancaster video and came away a little confused about Jason Preston's status. I'm hoping it was just an oversight when Boals was answering the question, but someone asked him who was returning to the team and he specifically said 5 were returning. He listed them as:

Dartis
VanderPlas
Murrell
and 2 freshmen who red-shirted last year (I assume Springs and McMurray)

No mention of Preston, however.

Did I miss a transfer? Or like I said, maybe he just blew the question.

(Sorry, just saw someone else posted this question above as well.)

I'm confused too, because he also said two scholarships are open which would not be the case if Jason is gone.

Made some schedule comments. I think we already knew about home vs Detroit and Purdue, @Iona. Also mentioned home game vs Morehead State and the contract was completed for a buy game at a top 10 but didn't mention the name.

Typically, you don't have to be a Facebook member to view a video on Facebook. You should be able to watch it on the page just like any other page you visit in your browser: https://www.facebook.com/OhioBobcatClub / Just click "Not Now" when it prompts you to sign in or sign up.

Any word on the recruit?

I would like to see Jason stay because he seems like a high quality kid with some talent. But if he leaves he would open up a chance for Boals to add another one of his guys. Preston was your atypical Saul recruit: late, not many offers, shoots from his chest. Like I said, if he stays his minutes will be cut down but he will be a good person to have as a character guy. If he leaves, I won't lose sleep as Roderick, Price, Brown and McDay can get his minutes.

Let's just call that lack of comment an oversight. The team's Twitter mentioned him yesterday. I also don't foresee his minutes being cut. Not with his strong A/TO ratio at his usage.

Preston is staying. His minutes are likely to go up . . . not down!

I agree. Anyone who watched him last year knows how valuable he was as his minutes and responsibility increased, and he contributed to our late surge of better basketball. With TK gone, he's our starting point guard unless one of the frosh goes nuts.

He will be in a competition with Lunden, he is not owed any minutes. Lunden is pretty darn good, we will see what happens. Brown will factor in as well.

Lunden could also be used at the 2, while Preston or Brown start at the 1. One thing is for sure, if everyone is at 100% health, there will be a lot of competition for PT at the guard/wing spots!

So Brown is expected to play right away? I figured since he was the last of the guards recruited and least spoken of during recruiting that he might be behind McDay and Preston but I hear some on here talking about him more and more. I know nothing of him and see the video which shows he's confident and explosive.

If Brown is solid we could possibly have a rotation with wings McDay, Preston, Dartis, Brown, Roderick and Price with swingmen Murrell and BVP and a big in Ogbonda. That's 10 guys with Foster, Springs and McMurray still in the wings. I hope there are enough minutes and shots to keep all these guys happy they came here. I am very excited!!!!!!!

Buck.Cat is it your thing to be nasty in nearly every post? Now, you're taking out after someone in Siberia for posting his preference in local beers because it's not the same as yours. Do you have a life outside BA? Seems you come on here to see just how many nasty comments you can make directed at as wide a variety of posters as possible. If that's your goal, you've been wildly successful. Another poster suggested to me in a PM that you might be a plant from Ohio A&M sent here to see how disruptive you could be. That's my alternate hypothesis.

I wish I could ask you about your tendencies with your posts but there are two unequivocal facts at play here:
1. I don't read people's names, just posts
2. I'm not a 45-year old man who lives in my parent's basement so I don't read people's names on their posts.

I'm not suggesting that at all. I'm merely saying that it is possible that Lunden could end up on the court at the 2. He's a good player, and Preston was obviously effective at the point, while limiting turnovers. My line of thinking was simply that if Preston and McDay prove to be two of the best guards, one could end up playing the 2 to get on the floor more often.
