As NFL training camps get underway this week, what Bobcats are at camps?  I know Taylor Price, Dave Zastudil and Michael Mitchell, but is Landon Cohen still on the Lions?  Are there any other Bobcats in camps?

I know, George. It is a serious problem with those of us who are Washington fans.

Maybe he'll end up in D.C. That would be like a friend who began his college experience at M%^&i, saw the errors of his ways and transferred to Ohio where he earned multiple degrees.

I attended Wednesday afternoon's Pats practice and Taylor looked very comfortable, although he did drop two balls in live action.  He is also participating in punt return drills along with Julia Edelman.

All the local writers are high on his chances to make the cut, although they did bring in a free agent at WR  to expand the competition after the retirement of David Patten a few days ago.  He continues to be slotted on the opposite side of the line from Randy Moss on most plays, and that WR slot is wide open for competition at this point.

He was also one of just six or seven Patriots to sign autographs for fans after the session, which was a nice touch, and I did get him to sign my Attack Cat flag.

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

Looks like Zastudil is still recovering from an injury.  (You have to scroll down past the Braylon Edwards crap to see i t though)

Zastudil's return uncertain: Mangini said punter Dave Zastudil will miss more time after he returns Wednesday from Colorado, where he went to have his knee re-checked by his surgeon.

Originally, Zastudil was supposed to return on Friday. Mangini said Zastudil did not have surgery while was in Colorado. He also didn't specify how long Zastudil might be out or whether he'll need more surgery in the future. He's recovering from a torn right patella tendon.

Patriots | Torry Holt could be released

New England Patriots WR Torry Holt may not make the team's final roster, according to Tim Graham, of ESPN.com. Holt appears to be sitting sixth at best on the depth chart at wide receiver, behind WRs Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Brandon Tate and Taylor Price. WR Sam Aiken, who made 11 tackles and forced a fumble on special teams last year, could also earn a roster spot ahead of Holt.

Couple of our guys in action tonight. Price records no receptions but returns two punts for 14 yards...ESPN is loving Julian Edelman right now. It looks like Mitchell is going to lead the Raiders in tackles against the Cowboys tonight.

Oh, does anyone remember seeing Joe Reitz ever dunking a basketball?

Ended the night with 6 for 90, not bad.

He did end up leading the team, with 4 tackles.  Good to see Mike hitting out there tonight!

Some thoughts on Price after watching the Pats game last night:
  • At this point, he appears to be the 5th or 6th receiver on the team. (after Moss, Welker, Edelman, Tate)
  • He got no PT in the first half, and most of his PT came with the third string QB.
  • The only ball thrown in his direction was off target, and he made a great "defensive" play to break up the INT.
  • He did make some good blocks on kick returns, which should help solidify a roster spot, but didn't field a kickoff.
  • Both punt returns came with poor punt coverage.
  • Pats used a bunch of two and three TE sets, which will limit TP's catch opportunities from scrimmage.
  • As Shabamon noted, Edelman is getting a lot of positive press, and for good reason.  He is playing with a HUGE chip on his shoulder trying to gain his own identity apart from Wes Welker, and Taylor could learn a lot from Julian's example.
The press in Boston still feels Taylor is a lock to make the roster due to his youth and athleticism, but unless he takes off in the next three preseason games (or injuries up the depth chart), he will likely be relegated to playing time on special teams in 2010.

Price will need to step it up.  Hope he gets the chance.

I doubt they will get rid of Price, it seems like they see him as maybe replacing Moss in the future.  Probably figure he will need a year to develop, then next year get more WR playing time.  Pats love to build from the draft and strategic trades.

Unless Taylor does something really stupid (ala Rudy or Chip), Taylor will make the team, rarely are 3rd round picks cut and the Pats are looking at losing at least one of their two top receivers after this year.
