MAC commissioner John Steinbrecher was on 850 WKNR from Cleveland yesterday evening and I happened to catch it.

Some of the things I remember him saying:
- He talked about the rise of Temple and said he was confident the Owls will remain as a MAC team even if they keep getting better.
- He talked about conferences expanding and said he was glad the rumors of the four-league 16-team power-conferences didn't come about, although he never really thought it would play out that way.
- He mentioned it was crazy that anyone would have belived the completely unfounded rumor of the Mountain West and Conference USA merging in an effort to get a BCS bid. He said there is no truth to that at all.
- He said the BCS is far from perfect, but it is better than what came before it because it does give the MAC at least some possibility of playing in a BCS game and some share of the money.
- He said the 5 non-automatic qualifying conferences to the BCS share 18 percent of the BCS money every year and it is important for MAC teams to not only make bowl games but to win them because that can affect the percentage of the money that the MAC actually receives.
- He said scheduling in the MAC is difficult, but he was really glad to see Arizona coming to Toledo (and Miami in the future). He also mentioned Akron hosting Syracuse and named UConn as a good team MAC schools have hosted recently.
- He said the MAC graduated a lot of great QBs last year but he thinks there probably are a lot more great QBS this year that people just don't know about yet.
- He will be hosting the Humanitarian Bowl president next weekend. This president will visit the Central Michigan-Temple game on Thursday and the Toledo-Ohio game on Saturday.

That's what I remember. I thought it was somewhat interesting. If you want to listen, I bet the interview might be available online somewhere.
