A mini-article posted at Noon on ESPN's blog discussing how Solich plans to play both QBs in the first game.  He has told the QBs who will start but will keep that under wraps to keep the opposition guessing.

Has there been a year in the Solich tenure where we knew the starting QB going into game one?  I feel like every year we have the same discussion, just with different names.  The last two years were Theo vs. Boo, before that, Theo vs. Brad, before that, Brad vs. Austin.  It just seems that both QBs seem to play rough and nervous that first game with their job at stake.  Just once, I wish we could go in (and the receivers, too) to the season knowing who our starting QB would be.

This year's battle is a little different than other years, in theory Boo was supposed to be gone, but since he got a redshirt he is back.  So instead of it being a battle between Tyler and Bates, where I think Bates wins, you now have a battle between Boo (an OHIO record breaking QB) and Bates (a physical specimen).  Both sound like great options, but it would be hard for Solich not to give Bates a chance on the field, as well as to not give Boo a chance after what he did in 2008.
