i want to thank all of the folks at the tailgate for their warm welcome and true hospitality! i was invited by a few of you to come by for a visit and i am glad we did. we had some great conversations and very tastey food.  everyone we encountered in athens was very nice (even the student that booed us into a bar and out onto the street...we of course were hollering GO WOFFORD!!! all in fun!)

you have a great setting for school and football. your team is very talented and will do well this season.  we have some work to do. to's killed us again. we had that problem last year and hope it will be fixed by conference play! i hope your qb, bates, is not seriously injured and heals fast. he is a beast (would love to have his size with our option...wow!). i think our team pretty much left it on the field as far as defense is concerned. those guys were very tired by the end. 23 minutes out there in second half with only a 3 minute break! we were happy to hold you to under 100 yds passing. our offense other than 1st quarter got bogged down at times and some coaching decisions left them in a bad way. would love to have completed a pass when we only threw 4! embarrassing! i just wonder if the coaches devote enough time in practice to develope an effective passing game. who knows.

i think both teams showed a lot of class last night. i saw some of your players offer a hand up to our guys...always a classy act imo. i read on another thread about our players stopping for your alma mater. they do that at every away game. our fans were also standing with hats off. i think about 300+ made the trip up. our coaches and institution are always a class act and i am very proud to be an alumnus of wofford college! it was a great trip and i hope we can play again in the near future.

good luck the rest of the season! i will be following your progress.

GO TERRIERS!!!

....and thank you for your nice comments about your experience.  Sorry I didn't run into you as I am a band parent following them about in their activities.

IMO your passing numbers should have read 1-4 with a TD because it looked to me that your receiver one handed the pass in the end zone and stepped backwards several steps in the end zone before being knocked to the ground and losing control.

When that option is working it will give your future opponent DB's fits as they are lulled to provide run support--you would have had a few receptions if not for the interference caused by beaten backs on Saturday evening.

Your defense also put consistent pressure on the qb and showed our line and running backs need lots of improvement on pass blocking if we expect to reach our goals this season.

I have to tell you that I enjoyed the whole experience.  Sitting very close to your sideline benches, it was fun in a perverse way to hear the Wofford coaches and players using our 1st half woes as inspiration.

I was happy we got out with the W. It made me remember fondly those Ohio games in our triple option years when our opponents couldn't get us off the field and, very occasionally, we stole one.  It's a great offense to watch when it's going well as yours was into the third quarter, at least.  I loved your defensive intensity, too.
