Coach Solich was on some Ohio State talk show this evening. I happened to get in my car just as the interview was beginning. It was pretty short, but since I know most people on this board will avoid at all costs everything related to Ohio State, I'll summarize.

They asked him about the start of the season, and he said it started well with Wofford, and that the Bobcats lost a "physical" game to Toledo.

They asked if Ohio might have caught Ohio State off guard some two years ago, and Frank admitted that it was a possibility, but he also said Ohio State has a very special team this year, and they know that they do, and teams that know they are special don't let that kind of thing happen.

They asked about Boo, and Frank mentioned almost immediately the shoulder surgery. He sort of played that off as an excuse to his slow start, but credited Boo as being able to run and for being a smart player.  But also mentioned Phil Bates without them asking. He went on to say what a playmaker he is with his feet and as a passer.

Asked about Pryor, Solich stated the obvious, that he is hard to defend because he can do almost anything, and that he has become a more accurate passer, which has made him even tougher to defend.

I think that was about it. It was probably five minutes long. They show did mention that Ohio State is 8-0 all-time against Ohio, including six shutouts before 1904 and then the two more recent meetings that were close games into the second halves.

Could this be Phil's coming out party?

The last game against OSU put Boo's name out there.....and I do have a #5 jersey.

WVU has a similar record against Marshall....but alas Marshall couldn't pull it out this year.

During the show they also brought up the fact that this game, along with the next 3 after that, should be a "lay-up" for Ohio State up until the Wisconsin game.  Their point was that while Ohio State should win comfortably if they play up to their abilities, it's not an automatic for them if they don't, not all lay-ups go in.  Given that it was an Ohio State show, I thought it was a fair statement.  Of course, the Georgetown people were probably saying the same thing prior to their game with nearly 6 months ago.
